Planet Probability
Hey guys, Lawdog here.
I created a few additional planets in one of my game edits and am trying to figure out how to change the probability of a certain planet being created with a Genesis Torpedo. If anyone knows than it would help a lot.
Thanks.

Re: Planet Probability
That can't be set .. it can be made easier to be popped ... If it comes after the original ones .. I mean way after .. like 4th or 5th after .. Then probability to pop one in an overloaded sector is greater .. Almost guaranteed.
I hope this helps ..

Thanks. Just have several copies of the planet you want in planet editor (if you have a total of 10 Planet types in the editor, and 4 of them are the same... you'll have a 40% chance of that planet appearing by Genesis Torp.:

Re: Planet Probability
Yeah, I really need a setting to manage that probability. I'll take a look at that.

Re: Planet Probability
Some things shouldn't be adjustable.... Planet types should remain a random event.

Re: Planet Probability
I have never seen this screen!
It is possible to add more planet types to the game?

Re: Planet Probability
Couldn't we compromise and either toggle it as purely random or be able to assign percentages? A lot of what JP has been working on seems to be optional features. Can't this be one too?

Re: Planet Probability
Just had a thought- how interesting would it be to add different types of GenTorps to be purchaseable at SD. Type 1 can create either planet A or B, while type 2 can give you either B or C, 3 can give you C or D, etc. That way you could make the torps that can create your good planets more expensive in your edits.

Re: Planet Probability
Nope. I disagree. The universe is a random place in a quantum theory sort of way. That means that as you travel through it, each rock will be different. Planets are just big rocks.
Also, when does a game cease to be a game? Im my limited world, a game always has a few random components, that's what makes it fun. remove all the random components, then you have a math problem, not a game. ALSO, if features continue tyo be added at the rate they seem to be lately, the game will reach a point where it doesn't even resemble the Trade wars we are all used to playing from the past. At that point, you might as well build the GUI, add some cool explosions and sound effects and make it XBOX capable.

Re: Planet Probability
I understand your feelings, MB.
There would still be the random chance you didn't get the planet you were hoping for when you purchased the GTorp. I was also operating under the assumption that these would be optional features, that could be turned on by a sysop should his or her player base wished it.
There already is a GUI version of TW out there, brought to you by our Canadian cousins. I haven't tried it yet, as I prefer a game that doesn't need a mouse to play. In that, I believe we are in agreement.

It is possible to add more planet types to the game? Check out your Gold Planet Editor MB - Yes, you can create new classes of planets.
