Hey slother3x. Insulting players in the hosting Q&A? Nice to see the smack forum back. While we are smacking, I just wanted to let you know that insulting players that use scirpts and scripters probably won't get you any more players than you have right now. Good luck with that attitude.

can you quote the insult. so i know what your talking about? because frankly i don't.

Sounds like an insult to players who use script to me.

This is the last thing I will say and then your can rant and rave all about your "anti-scripting" attics all you want to.
I can run circles around you in Tradewars, "anytime, anyplace, and under any circumstances. You call it what you want, but the fact is it's still losing. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Nice to see you back and around 'D'
I for one would like to see you back out there in the trenches .. I'd be there with or against you , you gave US .. Team Kraaken
a great opponents to play against and made the game very strategic.

I think without scripts any and all games would have ended as soon
as a SysOp said we could not use scripts or bots .. both or all teams would have walked. Leaving a SysOp to pay a power & internet bill
to host a ghost server (where no one would play).

Sad really , if players were allowed to play the way they have for years and there were 10 games of varied edits and a few normal rules , there may just be a New Server on the block drawing players in every rebang.

Just my thoughts on the matter . because I too would like a new place to play.

In a way your right. but...

what about those who never played before? going up against someone who wants me to "smoke it?"

they don't know how to play and if you start beating them up just because they are new and it serves to boost your ego by becomming a "noob stomper"

it usaly is at the expence of that noob.

it is no wonder people have ghost servers.

nobody wants to play because they don't know how to play or they kill those who want to try to play.

if it was about winning or loseing then by all means use bots to play for you.

but i am not about winning or losing. pride or ego.

but i am for what feels right and killing what feels wrong.

and automation just feels wrong.

Don't let these guys ruffle your feathers. They only know how to play with scripts and bots.

I admire you for trying to offer a script/helper/bot free server. That's going to take a lot of patience and monitoring.

Making the games password protected and making players agree to rules before allowing them to play will certainly make sure everyone knows the rules. It won't however guarantee they will follow them.

I've done all I can with the settings to ensure that the most aggressive type scripts are disabled on my games, but since we don't have a toggle to turn off scripting, there will always be players who use helpers. I encourage them to at least use Swath.

But still, I occasionally have a player get mad and leave because he got beat-up on in the game.

This is a game after all, I always encourage them to ask questions, and of the more skilled players on my server, I encourage them to teach and take noobs into their corps. It makes for more fun games. I have one player who's playing solo against all the other teams and kicking butt using macros. They haven't gotten him yet, but they are trying! It's all good fun.

i could see people makeing a fuss if i started "charging" for the service. but last i remember i was offering access to my home computer and giving access to my bandwidth, for free. do i or do i not have a right to make the rules if i paid for twgs just so others could play for free?

Yes, you have the right to make rules... and the players have the right to play somewhere else... which they probably will...

Sorry, I know that sounds rude... but there just aren't that many players left... and there are even fewer that want to play by hand...

nope not rude at all. just a fact that i already knew.

text based games are a dying breed.

and if they want to play elsewhere that is up to them.

if i was concerned about traffic i would open up all the games to any play style.

all i wanted was a place to hang out, but too many people are concerned with winning that they lost track with the fact that it is just a game. winning is not the only way to have fun.

the game lacks in places that other games have compensated for.

like i once said before. Tradewars is Dying. and the tradewars i remember is dead.

I would suggest that you look elsewhere for server activity instead of this forum since probably close to 100% of the players that visit this forum, and most Tradewars forums, use scripts or helpers to some extent.

Your server activity shows that much.

Well, nobody wants to lose... :)

I hate to agree with Big D, but the tradewars facebook page might be a good place to advertise your games.

i could do that. or i could just breakdown and let any play style
regardless how wrong it may seem at first.

if i made a public apology and removed the "nobot" restriction.
would ya all reconsider?

or is it to little too late?

Do you want "traffic" or do you want to offer a "unique" gaming experience. You can have both, but it takes time to find the players willing to play or "eager" to play a nobot rule game. You won't find them here, that's what we keep telling you. If you want nobot players, promote your server on Facebook. The TW page on FB has over 1300 likes, a much wider audience who may enjoy a nobot game.
