Unread post Hostiing and accessing TWGS through Mystic BBS
Hello everyone!

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this, as I am desperate to get my BBS back online since I recently switched to Mystic BBS.

Can someone please tell me what the command line is to run TWGS as a 'door' through Mystic?

I've tried the settings that I had for SBBS (rlogin) but that's not happening.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Never heard of Mystic, but it looks interesting. I see it will run on a Raspberry Pi. I might just have to give that a try... That is no Lie... One more rhyme, and I might Die...

Anyway, you can't run TWGS as a door. You configure your TWGS to accept Rlogin connections instead of telnet, and configure the BBS to connect with Rlogin. This should be fairly transparent to the users, and I can help you set it up if you need further assistance.

I don't see anything in the Mystic documentation about telnet/rlogin support. If it has this ability it is currently undocumented. You might be able to use this to make the connection:

At this moment Mystic doesn't directly support rlogin at all.

I've fiddled around with TelnetDoor last night ... I came close to a solution but still failed to get it onilne.

At one point I could get it to start up if I ran the batch file outside of the BBS, but not calling it within.

I tried using the string that I found at doorparty ... If you find a string that works I'm very interested to try it out.

Windows 10.

However I finally got it working. For anyone running Mystic BBS and Tradewars Game Server, I have the solution to make it work through an RLogin.

By default, Mystic does not include RLogin as a feature, but it is something that g00r00 is going to add.

In the interim you will need to download a program called TelnetDoor from here (https://www.randm.ca/bbs/telnetdoor/).

This application will literally pass your user from the door menu to an RLogin connection.

Extract it to a folder within your Mystic folder. I put mine in C:\mystic\doors\tnetdoor

Now create a batch file in the mystic\doors folder, call it whatever you like. Copy and paste this into it and save:

@echo on
C:
cd\mystic\doors\tnetdoor

telnetdoor.exe -R -Dc:\mystic\temp%1\door32.sys -Sbbs.url.com -Pxxxx

Change the bbs.url.com to your own DNS, and P=Port number that your Tradewars game server is running on.

In Mystic, add an entry into the door menu.

For command, select (D3) Exec Door (door32.sys)
Data: C:\mystic\doors\tradewar.bat %3 %U

While I cannot guarantee what worked for me will work for everyone else, but this allowed my players to be able to access their accounts within the game server like they did in SBBS.

You're welcome to see it in action and join in on our game at bbs.r2lotw.com. We will be initiating a second local game with at least 4k sectors to explore. So come early and get ready to have some fun!

I was under the impression that TradeWars wouldn't run under Windows 10. Have you experienced any problems?
