First of all, let me say hello all you beautiful people and the ugly ones too! My youthful gaming started before the "internet" and my early memories include this game and LORD (Legend of the Red Dragon). It reminds me of the unbreakable bond that I had with my father that exposed me to these things. Before the scripts arrived I had my wide ruled spiral notebook, my No.2 pencil and my insatiable desire to know more about the sectors than the rest. This text based game will always out perform, in my mind, anything modern day graphics and processors have to provide. It is when I became a gamer, when I loved the strategy that meant putting your wits against others based on a set number of turns under equal circumstances. I probably have forgotten more than I learned while playing, and I can comfortably say that I couldn't hold a candle to all the scripts and unlimited play that probably yields winners in less than a day. After all these years, today, I joined a game that had been running 3 years and found enough offensive fighters in all sectors surrounding sector 1 that your were podded in the start of the game.

I realize I can start my own games and own parameters. Is there a small community that likes to do very very limited daily turns and has somewhat of a large sector total as well as a "less than script friendly environment" or am I just living in a past that has died? Any game parameters that is truly about chess and not checkers with unlimited turns that benefit the scripts used only?

Don't get me wrong, as the scripts for introduced, I used them and benefited from them. It was pre windows and very exciting to see what computers and smart minds were capable of, and ultimately carved my love for computers in general. This post is in Hosting for a reason, anyone interested in hosting a long boring and very minimal turn requirement game on the largest sectors version out there? What was the lowest way back then...300 turns?

Regardless of the replies, I just wanted to shout out to a community that has my heart when I was and child and still at 38 years old.

Carry on..

You can visit my site for a list of all active servers, and detailed statistics on each game.

Most people are looking for the latest rebangs:

For the type of game you are looking for, I recommend Star Killer's, or Cruncher's:

Welcome back!

First of all, please watch the game rebang notices and get into a game early. It will be more fun for you. Check Micro's site often for fresh games, and find games with settings you enjoy.

I use settings on my server the "take a bite" out of the most aggressive scripts, but aggressive play is still possible. So, play with caution, meaning don't attack anyone's fighters while they are online, etc.

We all make mistakes, just brush off the space debris and limp your pod back to SD and start again. Ask for help in game, try to join a corp. Form a corp and invite others to join.

I totally agree with you about the graphics, no matter how well designed, modern games cannot compete with the images I conjure of my own little empire in a corner of the TW universe.

Steal it and sell it back to the port you just sole it from. Obviously they need some since you just cleaned them out :)
