How does ship defense of planet bonus work?

I am playing in this gold game with some gold mod ships and planets in it. Everyone runs around with a bunch of genesis torps on board because the biggest ship in the game has the defensive bonus guarding a corp planet. Some people say that the last person to bang a planet in the sector gets these defensive bonus odds, so they bang a bunch of planets when they meet up. Is this how it works? Or, do both players or all players in the sector get the defensive odds as long as they bang a planet in the sector? Appreciate any help you can give me on this question

That would be the owner of the planet. For example, you enter a sector with a planet and the owner is in the sector. You attempt to break surface atmosphere but are blocked in passage by the owner. The defensive odds side this way as well.

If as I understand right, players (both) meet and in the prelude to war, (like back in da 50's of new yo'k where ya slid a black comb through ya greasy hai' befo' rumblin) would [T]shoot out a genesis torpedo for the odds. (ok, maybe its more like pulling the switch blade out your back pocket) Then yes. Both parties are granted the defensive odds. The game has a good sense of property, atleast alot of emphasis has been put to it.

So long as you have a corp planet in the sector, your ship will get the planetary bonus odds. Multiple people in a sector can get a bonus, so long as there is at least one planet belonging to their corp there.

Are you sure? I've never actually tested it, but I've been told it's only for corp ships over corp planets. Not saying you're wrong, just wanting to make sure you're sure :)

It seems to work for personal planets when your in sector but I havnt done much testing with it.. since I dont usually spend alot of time building planets.. and when i do i generally dont sit over top of them.

Yea.. heh I was a little unsure myself but I remembered having the conversation with another trader off-board on the matter. Plus, I re-played the situation on my copy to be current/positive. I tested it under the latest revision of TWGS/Tradewars with two characters. One of corporate status and one without. Both characters shot up planets as one personal and one corporate. Both in Sentinels with stock 2,500 fighters and no shields. Took shots at each other. Recieved a round about 200 damage/loss. Tried also with one character non-planet ownership existing in location and they suffered a higher blow of damage. Again with both characters even at stock 2,500 fighters and no shields. The shields weaken the accuracy of show, so I went for accurate damage/loss rate.

I'll come back with the screenshot results as soon as I find a host to reflect them from.

The damage numbers are a little off from what I stated previous but still in its general range. This is due to the first testing's screen shots were lost. heh Heres some taken just a little while ago.

The first shot(s) are never enough. So they returned to Stardock for a refill of fighters.
