Orion, running the ZTM, isn't such a bad thing to do. If you're on a fast connection and the game server is itself a fast one, ZTMs can go by fairly quickly. Once run, pick out a likely tunnel, check to see if it's a SECURE tunnel, one not having a back door into it. back doors out can be a handy thing though. Then, if you haven't already, burn some of your turns exploring and trading. Depending on how many turns you have a day, you should be able to get into a decent ship for personal defense, have enough to make planets and if you're very good at managing your turns, get some critters onto them. I personally like unlimited turns and 20k sector games, but have a time limit on the game. This way you can build up, make money and start your home. You, like everyone else will learn as you go and, with a bit of luck, someone will take you under their wing.

What is the best program to do an Analysis of ZTM data?

All I have so far is J-TWAT and (Registered) ATTAC. I cannot afford to register SWATH, ZOC, or any other program right now. I am out of work and going to college. ATTAC can find sector tunnels up to 7 sectors deep. There seems to be some sort of issue with ATTAC using ZTM data as it tricks the helper into thinking you've explored those sectors so I might have to use two different databases.

No one anwser any more of Orion Blaster's questions until he goes and downloads a copy of TWX for FREE.

Everyone has suggested and given you advice to go d/l TWX, but yet you still haven't.

I downloaded it, but I am not sure how to set it up. Grazhoppa was going to give me a tour of it, but for some reason it got put off.

Install it, open it up.

Take your regular helper program and under connection details set it up to connec to ip 127.0.0.1 port 23. Then right click on TWX and go into setup. Create a new db with the game IP, port etc.

Hit connect on your regular helper, attac i think you said. You should see this:

TWX Proxy Server v2.02
(Official Release Version)

There are currently 1 active telnet connections
You are connected to server: TWKILLERS.DNSALIAS.ORG
Press $ to activate terminal menu

Once you see this screen your helper is connected to twx, now you just need to connect TWX to the game server.

Type: $c

And you will be presented with the login prompt to the TWGS. Any more help I suggest you check the TWX website and the readme file that comes with the program. It's not rocket science we're dealing with here.

I read the website and the readme document, I was able to stumble through setting up a TWX data connection and activating a script "1_fastztm.ct". While running it I made more data connections for other games, and later found out that doing so caused the database to switch on me. So my ZTM data may be located in different databases. No idea how to correct that.

Also I used to be able to get a directory of the script directory, but now all I get is this:

quote:

Script>

Listing contents of script directory

Script>

The web site and readme file seem to be very vauge and not complete and a bit confusing. The readme file even says that it will be replaced with a help file later on. If I don't know how to use it properly, I am going to be stumbling a bit more trying to use it.
No idea why it isn't listing the scripts anymore? All I did was copy some downloaded TWX scripts into the scripts directory to try them out later.

Tried import and export, sector sizes were different so no go. I may have to run ZTM again. I deleted the other databases and recreated them so it wouldn't have data from the original database in them.

So far, this has been very fustrating for me.

You need a separate instance of TWX running for each game your running. Just keep changing the port for each instance... 24,25,26 etc. ATTAC uses that new port and ip 127.0.0.1 to connect to the 2nd instance. If you connect 2 games to one instance of TWX, then yes you will F-up your databases.

Did you mean 1_ztmfast.ts? All the pack one scripts should have extensions of "ts" and they need to be in the "scripts" subdirectory.

Orion, have you found a game yet for us to start? Last I heard from you, you would let me know... I don't wanna let the ball drop on this. And if you need help with TWX, you've got my ICQ, please use it. =)

I'm still looking, I was going to join Demon's Run, but lately learned it was only a two hour game of capture the pods.
