I am currently playing a game that was banged about 2 weeks ago..5000 sectors..mbbs. When the sysop banged it we,discovered that there was an extremely large bubble that was unconnected to the rest of the universe. You can plot courses out of this bubble but,no course to get in. Is there anyway to get into it?Blind twarp does not work. Get ERROR no warp within 25 sectors...do you want to clear avoids. If you say no the twarp sequence shuts down. If you say yes to clearing avoids. It says no ftrs deployed twarp is shutting down.
(yes I turned the blind twarp protection of in swath)
Ok if the feds tow you out for arms violations or whatever, is that random, (enventually end up in detached bubble?), or are the feds limited to the same sectors we have access to? As this is one of the ways we thought may work.
Or if you get podded by someone do you go to random number or just to a sector that we can access at the moment.
Anyone have any ideas or maybe an answer?
BTW the players all agreed to continue the game as it was, the sysop offered to rebang.

Nope. There has to be a path to and from any sector the Feds drop you in.

Nope. You're pod will flee 3 to 20 sectors (average 6) in a random direction. It follows the same course plot system as any regular play does.

Nope, again. At least I don't. Someone else may enlighten us, though. I'd love to know if its possible to get into a bubble like that, just for future reference.

I want players like that! LoL!

This is interesting. I thought big-bang checked for problems like this. Did the sysop do it on purpose? I would be interested in knowing if you could transwarp to one of the detached sectors if sysop TEDITed a fighter in there for you. I realize that'd be cheating, but I wonder if the game would let you do it (and how much ore would it cost to Twarp to a disconnected sector?)

would this be similar to a black hole made by a sysop? where a user warps into a bubble and has no way of getting back out.

I may be wrong, and often am. But this sounds like a black hole. You can get into it, but no way out. Best is to avoid it. Try using the black hole finder feature on SWATH. If you get stuck in it the only way out, unless you have a edited ship with a huge xport range, may be to CBY, and start fresh at terra after extern...

I reciently had the same problem with a game i banged on my server, seems with the v.55 i have 20,000 sectors, and when i run a ztm with a test char, say every 1/40 sectors comes back with no possible route to sector # to Sector #, to me this sounds like a big bubble is out there, partially detached from the universe, and what i mean possibly, is that when i play as an observer and twarp to that sector, and then have other players try and twarp there, they can't get to it, but when a player is in that sector and tries to go out, they have no problem.. um what is going on here? is there a small amount of sectors that only allow you to get into this bubble? i'm confused

Actually, acording to feral's description, this would probably be considered a "white hole." He stated that you can plot courses out of it, but there is no way to get into it. Basically just the reverse of a black hole. Although, it would be interesting to see how one would get into this area of the universe

Maybe there IS a way in, but the route from where you are is longer than 45 hops. Have you tried to ZTM from each other sector to one of the sectors known to be inside this 'detached bubble'?

Tried everything we could think of....only 1 exit. Oh well the game was banged and we were declared winners anyway..lol To answer earlier response no..sysop (hekate) stated it was some kinda glitch or something...have to ask her. Still it would have been too cool to get in there. Thanks for the input.

It's a confirmed bug resulting from the new Gold Bubble options that were introduced in Revision .55. It will be addressed and fixed for Revision .56.
BTW, I love the tagline Feral!

Darn, and here I was hoping to use those bubble settings. Any approximate ETA on .56 so I don't have to fear turning on bubbles?

A week and a half (the same guesstimate I gave a week and a half ago... ). Seriously, I'm not sure when .56 will be rolling out. There's been a whole host of reported problems, the latest of which stem from the recent time change. Depends on how many of the little bugs are addressed along with the more important ones.
However, I can tell you .56 will not correct the bigbang problems from .55 without a rebang. So I wouldn't bang any new games under .55 with the bubbles feature turned on.

I would personally suggest that the time change bugs be fixed in a later version of twgs, considering there is at least 6 months before they happen again.
