 Photon Torpedos vs. Shiops

Hi, guys. I can't find an answer to my question through google searches (of course, "photon torpedos trade wars ships" or most similar combos bring up 20million star wars pages. Urk!), so Im' turning to you. The question is this:

I want to blow up a player in a Corporate Flagship. We were friendly despite a great alignment difference, but life has pulled him out of Trade Wars, and his parting gift was to reveal his sector number. I'm piloting an ISS, but I'm still a newbie and have few fighters and little money. The flagship has 10000 fighters and an unknown number of shields. I would like however, to take advantage of this opportunity before a more powerful player picks him off. So, if I used a photon torpedo on the sector, would that allow me to bypass his fighters? Or does it ONLY work on sector defenses and planets? In this case there are none. Just some planets without q-cannons and a flagship.

Unfortunately photons don’t have any effect on traders except for they remove his turns and decloak a cloaked trader. If you are low on funds and feel it is necessary to cap this ship ASAP then the best course of action is to make some cash and use a scout marauder to cap it with… BUT before you do that you may want to consider just what this CFS is going to cost you …. Right around 1.5 to 1.6 or so million credits… and that’s if you use a scout to cap it…

I've found a venture capitalist to fund my project. Another evil is gonna front me the cash, I'm gonna blow up the original evil, the VC evil is gonna get to blow me up, and I'll come out with a net xp gain and a bounty of several mil....

I think that oughtta work!
