I want to run a game on my machine. But I feel pretty dumb because I can't figure the command line stuff. I'm starting from stratch and I don't know if I'm even doing this right. I'm currently running XP, and any help would be nice. God I feel dumb asking these questions.

well just remember everyone was a newbie once.
Do you have a twgs server installed on your machine?
Twgs is a server that runs a game.
Swath is helper that connects you to a Twgs.
there are other helpers avalible as well.
you dont need a helper to connect to a twgs, any telnet program will connect you but I would suggest you use swath until you get some experience playing tw.
