Is there a strategy to using different planet types? what constitutes an "ideal" or "useless" planet?...

oh that is a hard one..
due to edits and such..
i good planet is one that has a 1 to 1 ratio on colo to fuel, a low ratio on fig producing
a high fuel max
and a quick cit production
standard none edits.. h's and l's are good
with edited game prevailing, you just have to learn the correct ones.
For example, Bone Collectors game, the Striking Distance planets are the best in subzero A
at blue adepts moon patrol games, his where called moon traders..
basically, ask around at servers..
most people will tell you what the best edits are..

As I suspected,...fuel and figs are foremost..strangely enough...I was asking because of the heavy planet editing on all the servers i've been to...including Bone Collecters...(that was me taking potshots at all you guys while you were running scripts...the other nite,I almost had alexio...my alignment shot up to 200,000 pts in less than 2 min)

actually no..
if can get a planet to level 4 b4 extern (aka the moon traders) it doesn matter if it is not the best fuel or fig producer, especially in a low turn game..
it all depends on the game

You can move a planet level 4 or higher to another sector

Provided someone didn't invade it, or "moth" your sector quasar until most or all of the Fuel Ore is gone.
In classic games, Mountain planets are good, followed by Earth (Class M) planets. I also use the Desert Wastelands because it creates Fuel Ore fast, takes one collie to produce one. I get a COLT and shuffle org and equ to the DW planet. I also find that Ocean planets are good for selling to a port that buys Org a lot. I beef up the port before I dump the Org there, usually one in a sector I have a ton of figs in so nobody else can get to it. Gasious and Glacer planets I just Atomic Detonate after creating, hard to farm those planets.

Here is a little secret thats not a real secrte.GEt in the game get cash get torps and atomics,go to sector 1 and go through all of the feds through sector 10 and look for a dead end sector off fed. Then make the right planets in that sector and then you can colonize when you want and use express colonize and relly get a lot.BUT only do this if there is a truce and the planets will be Level 4 before truce is over. Then everyone in the game can see you in that sector and it dont matter because you will move them before truce is over.
Just make sure its in a dead end.I screwed that up a few games ago lol.
Good luck
