I cross posted this because I have seen many newbies fall prey to this and thought it would be appropriate to put in the school section. You can be killed on a port in fedspace even if you are fed safe:

quote:ROFL, you can get blown up if your on a port. doesn't matter if your in fed or not.

smiley was attacked by Star Port Silenus Minor!
<name withheld> was at the port and got blown up!
smiley DESTROYED the Star Port in sector 2!

you can't stay on a port long anywhere, this could happen and it didhappen to you. he blew the port from under you when you doddled in it.

Yes, we do. If you don't know why, then I probably shouldn't waste my breath trying to explain it to you. But think about this: if everyone kept everything they learned to themselves, then we'd still be living in trees running from lions.

I'm still a newbie and you can find a lot of this info at websites throughout the web if you look hard enough. Just puting it all in one place makes it much easier :). Anyway you want a lot of newbies getting #SD# all the time or do you want good competition? I want the latter of the two myself. Because the better the competition the harder the games get and the better you get, just my 2 cents on this little matter Strider

I don't see the problem with letting newbies in on some news but is that not what corps are for...Let a newbie in your corp and take them under your wing...Teach them the ropes while they corp with you...

That's a great additional way to help them learn. I personally think everyone should do whatever they can to help people get better at the game, including answering any questions they have.

If you're a good player, you don't need to keep things secret. It's how you apply your knowledge that makes the difference. Anyone can beat someone who doesn't know what they're doing, but that doesn't make you a good player. Being a good player involves beating people who DO know what they're doing.
