I was just wondering about few things I have seen advanced players do. The first is escaping an active indictor generator on a planet. I saw sombody just warp out of the sector, The second is taking over planets without destroying the defenive fighters in the sector. I always thought you had to take care of the fighters first thing upon entering the sectors. Thanks |

A photon is a wonderful thing a photon missle disables all sector defenses except nav haz and dampens the q-cannon on the planet but not the figs on the planet the PIG i have no clue how they do that never seen it before neither |

Thanks Gravis, out of curiousity Does the photon only disable sector fighters for the wave duration, or are the disabled for good? I think he may have run my planet out of fuel with escape attempts to get out of the sector, It had well over 300,000 units but it was an unlimited turn game, so I'm guessing thats how he did that. |

Fighters are only disabled for the wave duration. And your guess is probably right about how he got out from under the PIG. He just drained it. Each time the PIG activates, it uses 500 units of Fuel Ore. If you got a ton of messages about the PIG activating, and your planet has no ore left on it, you'll know for sure. It's also possible that he may have x-ported to another ship, and then went back, fired another photon wave and either towed his original ship out, or x-ported back into it and drove it out. |

a PIG is not affected by a photon. The only way he could have "drove" away from an active PIG is if the planet was out of ore. |

Was supposed to mention that if there were fewer than 200 shields on the planet THEN he could have blah x-port blah photon blah blah. If the planet had 200 or more shields on it, then it's immune to photons, and only the sector defenses get suppressed. Not enough sleep or coffee this morning, or both...lol |

One thing I just noticed, The Photons are off in this game, so he couldn't have torped them, are there any other ways to get around them? |

yeah, did he have a ship in the sector? he could have transported into the sector thus eliminating the figs in the sector? |

Excerpt from PLANETS101 (sorry if this is long): ORDER OF EVENTS Let's assume a worst-case scenario: a Level 6 planet, with some fighters and a Military Reaction percentage set, fuel ore for the Quasar Cannon, some planetary shielding in place, and Interdictor Generator is active. The sector has fighters, Armid mines, Limpet mines, and some NavHaz (from previous attempts). Here's what happens, one event at a time, until you are destroyed or victorious: SECTOR EVENTS 1- NavHaz might be hit. 2- A Limpet mine would attach to your ship. 3- Armid mines will detonate. 4- Quasar cannon will fire at Sector level (multiple planets with Quasars fire in planet# order). 5- Sector fighters (1:1 odds) attack (if set to Offensive) or challenge (if set to Defensive ot Toll). ATMOSPHERIC EVENTS 6- Quasar cannon fires at Atmospheric setting. 7- Planetary Shielding must be defeated at 10:1 odds. (after shields are defeated Quasar gets another Atmos shot) 8- Military reaction fighters attack at 2:1 odds. 9- remaining fighters defend the planet at 3:1 odds. 10- You land on the planet. If you are still alive after the Sector events, remember that the Interdictor Generator will not let your ship leave. You can, however, use your transporter pad to get into another ship if one is in range. If you attempt to back out of the sector or TransWarp out, the Interdictor will use 500 fuel ore preventing you from leaving, and the Quasar will fire again at the Sector level. If there is less than 500 fuel on the planet the interdiction fails and you escape. THE PHOTON ADVANTAGE If Photon Missiles are allowed and you are quick enough, several of the steps above can be skipped. Below a level 5 citadel, or less than 200 planetary shields are in the shield generator, then: 3- Armid mines WILL NOT detonate. 4- Quasar cannons are dampened and WILL NOT fire Sector shots. 5- Sector fighters WILL NOT attack or challenge. 6- Dampened Quasar cannon WILL NOT fire at Atmospheric setting 8- Military reaction fighters WILL NOT attack 9- ramaining fighters WILL NOT defend. The defenses that are not skipped and must still be dealt with are- 1- NavHaz might be hit. 2- A Limpet mine would attach to your ship. 7- Planetary shielding (if any) must be defeated. 10- You land on the planet If the planet has a level 5 citadel and 200 or more shields, then: 3- Armid mines WILL NOT detonate. 5- Sector fighters WILL NOT attack or challenge. An invader still has to deal with all the planet-bound defenses. When the photon wave expires, so do the advantages. |

I followed you on everything but what do you mean by: 9- r(e)maining fighters WILL NOT defend. ? |

Planet shields get 22.5:1 odds or 20:1 odds (I can't ever remember which, lots of people say both and I don't remember test results). A photon will disable planetary figs from attacking you, but you still have to kill them defending (at 3:1 odds) before you can land. |

Yeah I get all of it except that no matter what a planet will still defend itself if photoned. The planetary figs will not attack if military reaction is set, but they still get the 3:1 odds, just as planetary shields get the 10:1 odds of course if there are less than 200 shields. No when I went to the sector I had 100,000 fighter on defense in there and he had no ships, He had taken the planet without taking out the fighters, and photons were tunred off in the game, Its a neat little trick and I'd like to learn how he did it. |
