when you land on a planet if there are shields then you must destroy them before you destroy the fighters

To destroy planet shields, you first land on the planet, you will see a message 'this is a shielded planet, you must destroy the planet shields in order to land. Then hit A, attack with however many ftrs you can, 10k for iss, until you have used most of your ftrs, retreat from that planet, go back to one of yours to refurb your ftrs and go at it again until all planet shields are gone.

A tip, if you reduce the shields down to under 200, like 199 or lower, you can come back with a Ptorp and photon the planet. That will dampen the q-cannon until the photon effect wears off.
This part of the TW-Cabal will help:
http://www.tw-cabal.com/formulas.html#L ... e%20Planet:
quote:
Landing On A Hostile Planet: Order of Events (What happens when you land with no Photon, or if you land on a shielded planet)
1. Atmospheric Q-Cannon will fire (assuming there is one)
2. Attack Planet Shields (if any)
3. If there were shields, and after you destroy the last one, then the Atmospheric Q-Cannon will fire again.
4. Planetary Offensive Figs attack. They ONLY attack when there are no shields. As long as there is at least one shield left, they will not attack. They attack at 2:1 odds, but will send 1.25 times the number of combined shields and figs your that your ship can carry. (i.e. if your ship has a max of 10,000 figs, and 1,000 shields, then you will be attacked by 13,750 figs at 2:1 odds) Any remaining figs will stay in the Planet to be dealt with in step 5.
5. Attack Planet Figs. Any remaining figs on the planet will defend at 3:1 odds (even if there was a Military Reaction set). After killing the figs, you are put at the Planet Prompt. First thing you should do is press "O" to take ownership of the planet!
Don't forget to evict other traders after taking over the planet. If not that will cost you. If they are in the citidel and allow their ship to be traded, then don't evict them yet but trade them a pod or scout for their nice ship and then evict them and then attack them. Dummies don't understand that when they allow their ship to be traded and someone takes over the planet that people can do that sort of thing to them. Sometimes you can get really nice ships out of the deal, make sure that you change ownership of the ship after you get it.

A good suggestion is to attack the sheilds down to 1 or 2 then retreat off the planet and refig and get sheilds. Then go back and kill the rest of the sheilds. Fact being alot of gold game ships have defensive ratings of more than 2 to 1 so you can live through the fig attack. Another good suggestion is to wear down the fuel a good bit before you try to land, cause atmos cannons hurt alot more than sector cannons.

Are you sure exchanging ships with other enemy players still works? I was under the impression they fixed that bug and only people on the same corp could trade ships with each other in a citadel.

I was not aware of that. Hadn't tried it yet because nobody on any planet I took was there or in a tradable ship.
There also is a bug of staying logged in on the citidel prompt keeps you on the planet even after the planet is captured. Can anyone verify that one?

I can verify that you can stay at the PLANET prompt when someone else captures your planet so they will not know you are there and thus not able to evict you. This is not a bug.

True, they can only evict you if you are in the citadel, if you are just on the planet they cannot and they dont even know your there unless you make yourself known. I was on a planet a few games back where someone was stripping it, once it got down to under 2k colos I blew the planet as soon as they landed again. Sucks to be them.

Yes you can exchange a ship as long as it is not an ISS, or the option not to exchange a ship is turned on the ship the Trader is in. To be sure I just did it to a non corpie on my TWGS.

Good to know that trick still works considering the ship is:
#1 Not an ISS or Commisioned ship.
#2 The ship option is not Locked Out.
#3 The ship is not a CEO ship like a Flagship.
I would imagine that a CEO ship is only for the CEO of that corp and cannot be traded with anyone even other corpies. ISS and other comissioned ships are automaticlly locked out. If the player chooses "N" to the "Do you want to allow other members to trade ships with you?" their ship is locked; if they chose "Y" the ship is not locked.
In any case, always evict other traders from a planet to be on the safe side. If they log back in and are on the planet, they can easily take it back.

The only check done when exchanging ships in a citadel is if the "currently exchangable" flag is set to yes or no. Each ship (everything except ceo only ships) can have the flag set to allow exchange or not allow it. Therefore, if a player in an ISS has allowed it to be exchanged in the citadel, any player, regardless of their alignment, can exchange for it in the cit. Same thing goes for ships requiring exp. Be warned, zyrain will still kill you if you try to move in it and you're not allowed to fly it.
