Since ports seems to have came back into active focus....does anyone have more information about 'blowing starports'? The questions about Specials seem to have been answered in the past as the attacker needs to have a corpie feeding them fighters until the Special port is blown and the next Special port will increase in strength so if you want to make Star Dock survive longer it is a good idea to blow either Rylos or Alpha Centauri first or maybe even both of them. My question however is about the amount of figs that need to be used to blow an ordinary port that is maxed to either sell or buy products and that includes if it is maxed on more than one product. That includes the issue of how much damage can a maxed trading port do to a loaded ISS as the basic example?

Check out my reply on 3-11 of this year in this thread, I think it will answer your questions, or most of them anyway.

All your post there says is that you dont know and if anyone knows then please tell you..
some ports do 12x damage points per def rating, some do 6x.. the numbers are not constant (or they dont appear to be) my guess is that there is a random multiplier built into the game. I know that this same random effect happens with stardock before too as I have been in games where I wanted to see if I had enough figs to blow dock so I would test it and one time it might take 200k figs and the next time it's 220k figs and the next time it's 180k figs. JP might share the info but I doubt it..

If you look again at that post Doc it tells you a formula for how many fighters to destroy a port, I never tried it so I asked for correction if it didnt work out, it was never disputed or corrected by anyone. So taking that as being a true statement then the only thing missing is the damage a port does, this also seems to hinge on the product capacity of the port. I dont have any info on damage that a port does to you when you attack, most times, except class 0 ports it doesnt matter because the port is dead in 1 or 2 shots max.

From casual observation, ship odds play a factor in it. Any formula that fails to take those into account would therefore be flawed.

Good point, I would imagine that formula is considering a ship with 1:1 odds. I have never tried it but I might just to verify it.

Back to the question which is how much damage will a port that is maxed in one or more areas do as opposed to an ordinary port. More to the point if the port is filled to maximum amount in one or more areas whether buying or selling how much more damage will it inflict?
I do know when port is drained either buying or selling it is easy to destroy. Anyone have the formula for attacking (as an example) a SXS port with 32760 on both fuel and equipment or else an SSB port ready to buy 32760?

Depends on your defensive odds and a random factor.

I noticed an oddity when attacking 32k ports that are at 100%. If you attack using a 15k wave from a stock IDC and BREAK OFF after the first wave, when you re engage the port it will have gone to:
Fuel Ore Selling 0 0% 0
Organics Buying 10 100% 0
Equipment Buying 10 100% 0
- and costs less than 10 figs to finish off, as opposed to several thousand if you continue without breakoff. A stock ISS 10k wave will only get the port to:
Fuel Ore Buying 6860 100% 0
Organics Selling 6860 100% 0
Equipment Selling 6860 100% 0
I didnt do any cost benefit analysis on breaking off with an ISS.
Looks like an interesting project overall, including whether or not there is an underlying trend to damage incurred in addition to the usual random factor

Interesting. I'll have to play with that some. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I would be obliged if you would share whatever you garner with me; in return I'll experiment scenarios at your request. ICQ 13613573 or here publicly.
I suspect that the damage from an attack on a port is related to the port MCIC - the variance is way outside the 95th percentile 7% random factor for ship to ship engagements in TW. Of the order of 20% for like classed ports, i.e. SSB in sector 1234 hits back at 5500, SSB in 2345 at 4500 or whatever.
