What are the rules for how fast NavHaz clears?

I've noticed that sometimes i've had 20+ NavHaz in a sector and then very soon after (Within the next day) it was suddenly gone.

Other times it disappears gradually - on the order of 3% per day.

What's the difference?

It depends on the nav haz dispersion setting in the game. The sysop can set the clearing to whatever he/she wants and it will be reduced by that much at extern. If it was in Fed, or the MSLs, I believe it is cleared completely regardless of the setting, but I could be mistaken on that.

You can check the * menu from the game entry prompt to see the setting on haz clear for that game.
