Anybody have any advise in starting a game that has less then 1500 turn a day and SD hidden. I've only played unlimited and SD open, would like to give a low turn game a whirl.

The best way to find stardock is to run a ztm, then analyze it looking for sectors with 6 warps out and 1 1-way warp in. Unless the warps have been edited, one of these will be stardock.

Ok, does anyone know any stragies for how to manage and what to use turns on starting out in low turn games evil or good. Or if you know any web sites that show stats for game play. Thx.

1500 turns aint that bad, but My last game was unlimited, and the one im playing now is 1200 turns. BIG difference. The best way I've found to locate SD is to run a world trade type script and start it in sector 1. If the script is written the way I think its written. It will go from 1 to 2, then 2 to 3, and so forth. You should be able to find SD by the time the script gets up to 50. It uses a lot of turns, but it will find SD and plus you will have a bit of extra cash, and a good start on discovering ports. After that Just make sure you buy a good ship to trade with. Merchant Freighter is best. I don't know if you're playing with edits or not. If you are it is wise to study the ship catalog and find a ship with low turns per warp (2 is ideal, but 1 is great if you are playing with such an edit). Also in addition to getting Low warp turns you should find the one with the most holds too. LIke the Colt can have 250 holds, but costs 6 turns per warp and also costs like a Mil to get stocked. It's good later on, but starting you should get the Merchant Freighter. Also when colonizing use the planet Tranport instead of T-warping. Transporting uses a lot of fuel (from the planet), but saves a turn or 2. If you don't have a lot of fuel but have a lot of turns then you may just want to Twarp till you get enough fuel. Hope this helps somewhat

I'm sorry, but that is terrible advice. Low turn games are all about turn management. There are lots of tricks to finding a hidden SD. Deploy figs and at the first extern, if one is destroyed by the Feds for being in a MSL, that'll point in the general direction. Another I've heard is to start exploring sectors with your destination being 11-100. Normally you'll find it fairly quickly. Be sure to trade a little as you go. The last and riskiest is to ask other players. There just might be a good soul that will tell you, perhaps for a small fee.

how is that terrible advice, you said to look for SD scanning sectors 11-100. In most games where I used a world trade script or Smart explore script I found SD within 50 - 100 turns and also found some paired ports. And 1500 turns isn's low turns. 200 - 999 turns I'd think of as as low turns. 1500 is a nice amount. anything above 2000 turns I think of as High turns.

It's really not good advice ;) ..
the best way is to map and take your 7 in 6 out .. there will be verry few sectors that meet that .. maybee you should do it and spend 2-3 hours worth of turns .. but if U dont find it by then then map and search ..

I guess the best way to find SD without using any turns at all is to wait for someone else to be online then ask them. I use my method to not only find SD, but Ports too. So it has dual functions for me. Blah
