Cruncher@chartermi.netNo, but I would really like to get my hands on a copy of Version 0.96 if anyone has it archived somewhere. Thanks Cruncher - V0.96 is one of the early DOS versions. I've never run MBBS, never had a copy of MBBS TW. It would be interesting to have a copy in the archive, but I'm not sure of the status of that version - anyone know? JP?

Re: the original TW2002
I don't have .96 the two copies I have are:
2002V2B7 written in 1995
2002v304 written in 1997 and I think this was the last release and still had some very nasty bugs in it.
I know when I first bought the key from Martech, JP let me continue to use that same key for TWGS when that was released. So, I can't share my key, you understand.
I don't even know if Martech is still in business or not, or how to contact them for a key.

ahh.. the good ole days of TW in 1988.
I remember the cabal and mapping out the whole universe on hex paper .. as well as buying as many turns per day as I wanted.

Re: the original TW2002
I have an archived copy of 1.03d, but not a copy of anything earlier. Do you perhaps mean 0.98? I don't remember a 0.96, but admittedly, this may have been before my time. The version 0.98 I remember had all ships at 1tpw (or rather tpw wasn't a part of the game yet), the Corp Flagship was called the Corprate Starship and the ISS was the Imperial FlagShip, there were only class M planets, no limpets, no level 6 cits, no Interdictor Cruiser, etc. It also had the corporate megaholds bug! (aceylad! (if anyone gets this reference, I'll be impressed)) Maybe there was an 0.96 that was released as well? I never saw it if that's the case though. I just checked an archived site http://www.thearmz.net/curious/mca/solace/school.html (don't laugh please, everyone was a teenager then) and the earliest version it mentions for any of those players was 0.98. Anyways, ah memories Bruce (30 years old now, played TW from 91-98 and back this year) Also, I know this is offtopic, but wtf is up with grimys?

Re: the original TW2002
On the topic of grimy's in curious to.
My first TW experience was on dialup at the ripe age of 14-16 honestly don't really remember. I'm 31 this year so it's been a long time. I remember printing up te maual for tw on my grandfathers computer which I dialed out from. Calling 900 #'s for gametime for the local Mbbs and playing locals for galactic reign. I was a bad player then to, however It was a blast playing tw and major mud/lord/excalibur/drug wars/etc.. You have to miss those days when the only place tha had internet connection was universitys and major libraries. I stopped playing after my grandfather spanked the crap out of me for charging like 100$ in mbbs time and didn't come back till like 10 years ago when I used to use the local libraries computers to compete. Did that for acouple of years and came back in time for hht #1 left shortly after and have left/ come back afew times after. So maybe 15 years here.

Re: the original TW2002
It depends, if you're counting earliest, well besides myself and MaryAnn doing testing, that title would go to Tom Boucher, handle "Trekkie" who was our very *first* play tester. Cruncher wrote: Hey Kav! Doing very well! I have "people" who count for me now while I live the life of leisure! LOL I'm wondering now, just who the oldest TW player is? When I retire in a few more years I may just take the game up again. LOL Kavanagh wrote: How the HELL are you Crunchie beancounter ? Its great to see you. Kav.

Re: the original TW2002
Well, that also depends on if she meant the age of the person or actual years of playing Tradewars. It also depends if she was talking about all players that have been involved in TW or just players currently active today.

Not sure if I'm the oldest player still active, but I have to be close. By oldest I assume you mean years playing the game. I hope the hell I'm not the oldest age wise. lol I started in 1988, played until 1991, restarted 1996. Been away for a few months but will be back soon, so say 14years total, at least 10 of them every day. Insane. Space Ghost probably has more playing years under his belt, I remember coming across references to him under TW dating to 1995. My guess is that The Mad Hatter has the record, he started playing before I did. I'm 59 next birthday but know of 3 active players older than me. I started playing when Version 0.96 was current, and was one of the first people to download Version 0.98 using a 2400 baud modem from Castle Ravenloft, my wife damned near killed me when we got the phone bill (I shouldn't have downloaded it at noon ;] ) As to Grandparents, Zoobar became a Grandfather two years ago, which makes me a Great Uncle (Zoobar is married to my wife's little sister). As far as age, I defer to Kav, he's six years older than I am. Wayne
