Hey every1. I have been a fan of tradewars for along time now and now that i have finally found an active tradewars site i cannot seem to run ne bbs on my windows vista laptop. I was hoping maybe one of can help me figure this out becuase i would LOVE to play some trade wars. |

Are you trying to set up a game server to host games? Or are you trying to figure out how to jump in and play? You mention a BBS? Help us help you man! |

it runs in telnet. so you have to either activate that in the control panel or use a helper like zoc, attac, or swath for the window. then it runs in a box on your screen. if you are just trying to come back, be aware that people run scripts to move and attack and trade really fast now- getting into a friendly building game and asking around here for help can get you up to speed quickly, plus land you fun scripts to use. check out navhaz junction and outpost-4 for a lot of good tutorials and script downloads... |

Well I am just trying to hop in and enjoy the game like i used to on BBS Nighthawk years ago and thats how i played on w/e platform came out before Windows XP. Ever since XP i havent been able to log on to another bbs server. And i reeeeeeeaaaaaaally wanna play XD |

some of us play there, but your issue will eventually be that you cant really run scripts from the java... on many games this will put you at an insurmountable disadvantage. it takes quite a bit more effort to get everything set up to run straight telnet from your home pc nowadays... and thats required for the helpers and macro/script programs. however, setting this up lets you play on just about any public server and with a wide array of 'toys' to play with. PM me and i can try to walk you through a setup for telnet and twxproxy... |

Once these guys help you to get a telnet program to connect to a game be certain to try a few out to see what type game works best for you. For newly returning players please read this document: http://www.navhaz.com/dny_tw_tutorial.txt You may want to start in a game that's set-up for builders before you try a more aggressive game. This site will help you to choose a game to play: http://www.thestardock.com/twgssearch/index.php From the game menu type S to see that game's settings and * to see additional settings. ty guys for all teh help imma try the java one for a little while to warm up and then ill try to setup a telnet. tyvm again =) |
