FYI , our ending grid count 27042 = 90%. :)

One day you might get a few points from this:

This wasn't an unlim edit.

OK, I have a question. Since I first returned, gridding has been promoted as the way to win games... I know I've been on the side of "0" grid.

This was not an unlim game, which makes this percentage all the more impressive, given we were basically 3 guys short.

I've been told many times that gridding is "the" most important aspect of today's games because of the d-base today's scripts can analyze. I've also been told that "turtling" is the losers last stand.

So, when is gridding NOT a key aspect for a game?

Once a team is established in a base that they can protect and that can provide them with cash, I guess it becomes less important.

Edit (still a guess): In an unlim, the grid would still be important because more ports = more money. In a turns game, there is a cap on the number of ports required to make maximum cash because it's limited by a corp's turns.

I will guess when there is no method of scoring a game. If the game was declared a draw and there was a scoring system in place I am sure grid would be a significant part, but L5/6 planets normally carry a heavier weight on the scale.
