Post subject:  Manned ship capture question

I don't understand what happened here. ISS v Havoc, 1.5 offensive v 1.2 defensive means 10K ISS figs should take out 12,500 Havoc figs, with the usual small random variation. I figured three 10K waves to be safe, then peck. Third wave, however, took out 13,456, the exact amount of figs left. Seems too good to be true, obviously I'm missing out on some mechanism or other.

Anybody shed any light on this?

One thing I've noticed is on the final capture wave you get a LOT Of slack in the amount required to capture it.

I often find you can do a quick "close enough" mental calculation when capturing aliens/people.. for those who still attack by hand like me occasionally :)

I often thought it might even be related to the capture fail %, just to give you a offset from the chance of it blowing up in your face.

@ Hammer_2, it was by hand, can be seen from the T/L.

@Micro - maybe, but a corpie in the game said that he had seen it happen before but could not figure it out

It's not even close to luck, it is consistent. When attacking to capture a ship with LARGE amount of ftrs it's very easy. When attacking with small amounts it is very difficult.

if a ship has 1 ftr left and you attack with 1, and you both have same odds, it seems to take many shots.

If a ship has 10000 ftrs and you attack with 9000 and you have same offense vs their defense, I almost guarantee you'll cap it every time. You'll probably even leave 3-400 ftrs on that ship as a sweetener.

This is in V2 games... usually vs aliens for me... and on Vid's usually.
