Re: Playing without scripts or helpers?

If you really want to keep 'helpers' out of a game, there are plenty of TWGS settings that would help make this happen; not the least of which: would be to Turn on *all* Delays; High Steal Factor, Planets that hold miniscule amounts of product/fighters; minimal production; Low Max-cmds; etc. etc.
I agree there are settings that make it uncomfortable for modern gameplay.
Unfortunately they also make it awkward/uncomfortable to play by hand as
well. A sysop shouldn't
have to use these settings. I think that is really the
point we should discuss. If a sysop makes a rule for his server,
can't we just agree to abide by that rule? Of course you can make a
script that simulates a human hunting and pecking. Of course you can set up a
series of responses to a human on Fedcomm, but
should you?

I just prefer to play the game the way it has evolved over the years and not go back in time to 1990. Choose the game or server that is right for you.
Vote with your feet if you don't like server rules, but let's try to
play within the bounds of the sysop's wishes.
Edit: PS I do think the sysop has a responsibility to his/her
players to make sure the rules are clear and outlined
in the game bang announcement.
