Unread post Manual, Guide, and Tutorial discussion
As someone completely new to managing a Tradewars game/server, and as someone who hasn't played in many years (and even then wasn't very experienced), I am extremely interested in as much information as I can get my hands on.

I've been lurking here for awhile now, reading just about everything and trying to learn from observation and experimentation, and I've noticed a distinct lack of newbie reading material. From what I can tell there have been a couple of attempts at writing a community manual for the game, and another for hosting. I'll be digging through them and consolidating/writing a tutorial/knowledge base for my own nefarious purposes. I will have a plethora of questions and need a lot of help from the more experienced members of the community. I would greatly appreciate any discussion or feedback on this project.

Specifically, at these early stages, I'd like help tracking down as much useful information as is already out there. I have found the following:
-Game Play Q&A Forum
-Tradewars 2002 Manual Forum
-Hosting Q&A Forum
-TWGS & TW2002 Settings Explained Forum
-http://docs.classictw.com/
-http://tw-cabal.com/

Thanks to Micro, Kavanagh, and Helix for the links!

I'm still working on getting the in-program help files to function on Windows 8.x.

Are there any other helpful documents/projects out there I should/could be looking at?

You can find my server at 166.62.32.246:23. Look forward to seeing you there!

(Still trying to get the domain name working right, but the IP address is solid!)

Always looking for feedback and improvement! Send me a PM with comments/suggestions, please!

Check out my "Tips and Guides" page:

I highly recommend "The Cabal's Secret Hideout"

There is a documentation WIKI, but not much work has been done on it:
http://docs.classictw.com

If you are interested in contributing to the documentation WIKI, I am sure JP can setup an account for you. Just email jpritch@eisonline.com

As Micro posted, tw-cabal.com , in addition to his own site, is great. Also, navhaz.com has good info.

There is a pdf version of the TW-Cabal Site in this archive. It was made with the permission of the creator.

Excellent!

Thanks for the information. I'll be spending some time this weekend working on this.

Even though the files aren't large, I'm more trying to find a good way to consolidate the files in a way that the community won't lose access if someone decides to drop their server or leave (some of us do grow up eventually, right?). I figure torrents (or one big torrent archive that gets updated every so often?) or a mirror archive would work. I'm actually not sure how a mirror archive works, but I know a single link could be provided here in the forums (or the wiki) and they would be served by multiple servers.

Cabal should have everything you would want to know.
