Everyone rushed to slam the profanity filter with as much variety as possible : ) Then again, some curse words are outright deserved and necessary.

You guys may think it's classless or unnecessary or wrong or stupid or uneducated or all the excuses refined, high class, well-off people give for looking down on people who use swear words.. But live in the real world for more than 10 minutes at a stretch and tell me if you continue to care whether you, personally, use curse words. The working class usually have no time to waste watching our words carefully to make sure no one at all is offended. We're trying to survive and thrive. Besides, some people need to be offended - for their own good. Shock the monkey. It saves time and effort, relieves tension, teaches people by moving them out of their comfort zone...and, from an author's point of view... Sometimes nicer synonyms just aren't the word that fits or does the job best. Just sayin. Have a good night.

Re: New Smack Talk Forum
The language doesn't bother me, I can make a trucker blush. I'm old, I've heard it all, repeated most of it. But I don't use cuss words in my daily life.
The funny thing is Comet mentioning the language used the the smack forum. When we had the smack forum here, he used much more "colorful" language than you have recently, and yes.. it was directed at me.
I'm OK with the fact that not EVERY TW player loves and adores me. Heheh..

Re: New Smack Talk Forum
There is a distinction between offending and degradation. ...And just saying... Quote: [Prior] Researchers and authors have argued that people who curse a lot are lazy, have a more limited vocabulary, and lack education and self-control. ... They [in a third current study] found that those who cursed more showed more neuroticism (a tendency toward anger, anxiety and depression) and openness to new experience as personality traits. They were also less agreeable, meaning they valued getting along with other less, and less conscientious, meaning they had lower levels of self-discipline.
According to the researchers, the findings suggest that swearing is mostly a vehicle for expressing strong emotion – anger, frustration, derogation, surprise and elation -- among people who care less about who they might offend. Cursing is an intense, succinct and powerful way of expressing yourself, even if some people find it unpleasant. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/won ... rse-a-lot/

Sounds like a lot of the same kind of excuses I was mentioning for judging other people. Go looking for a reason why cursing could be a character flaw, and you'll find it. Scientists are human too. And you cannot observe without affecting the observed...

Re: New Smack Talk Forum
It really has a lot to do with your environment. If you are around people that are easily offended, then you tend not to cuss or discuss offensive things. With a different group of people, you might be more inclined to relax and have fun. In a stressful situation you might use language as an offensive weapon or a defense. It all depends on how you were raised, your work environment, your home environment, and who you are with at the moment.

He's a force of nature. You're the voice of reason. I couldn't have said it better myself.
