notepad - do it "Old School!" heh

Your web host may have some web editors available, most do. But, depending upon what you want to do, notepad will work to edit your HTML content.

Free tutorials here: http://www.w3schools.com/html/

Notepad is serious "Old School", but hard to visualize fonts and layout. The nice thing about notepad is that you can write clean and easy to read HTML without the editor adding a bunch of garbage.

I found this on google:
http://webdesign.about.com/od/windowsht ... ditors.htm

I use #7, but that is because I write web applications, not design websites.

It can be really hard to read HTML in notepad, when a program like Frontpage has filled it with a lot of unnecessary garbage.

For layout study CSS http://www.w3schools.com/w3css/

To get really fancy, you can use the free version of Visual Studio. There's a learning curve to use this, but plenty of tutorials on the web.https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/

Notepad++ is also better than old school notepad, it adds color to your code to make it easier to read. https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Don't be afraid to start from scratch and eliminate all that Front Page crap. That's probably written with HTML2 or 3 with a lot of inline formatting. Today HTML 5 is clean, just structure and content. The style comes from CSS.

It doesn't matter what you use to edit with, you'll still be opening the file locally in your own browser('s) to see how it looks. and I do recommend looking at it with Chrome, IE, Edge, Firefox and Opera.
