Returned player looking for a game
I used to play TW back in the early '90s and have recently returned. I am looking for a server to play on that is running the normal game, has active people who use scripting to help them play the game not play the game for them. I don't mind if people are using scripts for things like colonizing planets, port trading/robbing/stealing/etc, or the other repetitive, tedious tasks.
What i do have a problem with is people who drop fighters in every sector, blockade the fedspace lanes, pwarp under you the first sector out of the fedspace sectors and blow you up, or drop in next to you and photon torpedo you then pwarp and blow you up, blow up your escape pod, then go back to whatever the script was doing all in .0000003 seconds while your out grilling your steak dinner. And all of which happened 6 minutes after the game was banged.
I would actually like to play and enjoy the game. Are there servers and players out there like that?
Thanks.

Thanks. Hy there, There are two servers i would recommend for the kinds of games you are looking for. My server and its builders games. Game A in particular has a lot of old school players who like to help new/returning players. Games P and U would also be good. The other server would be Cruncher's. Her whole server focus is the kinda games you like to play. My Server: Star Killer's Ice9 sk-twgs.com port 2002 Cruncher's Server: Cruncherstw.no-ip.biz port 2002 sk

Thanks, Star Killer. I have been playing on Cruncher's. The game I am playing has 5 people, 3 of which only played a few days at most, and the other started last night. I have a nice little empire going, and easy pace to try and learn some things, but still nobody to play with.
I will be sure to check them out your servers.

Re: Returned player looking for a game
Welcome back to the game. It's nice to see another player who shares my preferences.
In addition to SK's builders' games, you might check out his games E and G. Both 5k sectors, reasonable turns, and pretty much stock.
I see you have already found Cruncher's server.
Also, there are good nearly stock games I have found on The New Order (66.26.112.252:2002) and MTL Geek (mtlgeek.synchro.net:2002).

Re: Returned player looking for a game
Yeah, I started on a couple on Cruncher's when they were fresh games, stock, small in size, and had settings I mostly liked.
I looked at a couple games on SK's builder games, but the age of the game, server rules, and the things the players are doing killed any interest. Though, I do have to give them credit that the other players were patient with my accidental server rule breaking that I didn't know about. Oops. (Sorry guys!)
I'll take a look at MTL and New Order that you have suggested any see if they interest me.

Never touch an enemy fig again. 4. Quickly Make some cash. 5. Lay some grid down. 6. Get your planets going. 7. Defend your grid with photons. 8. Lay some more grid down. Ultimately you are going to need a corp to play in these aggressive games, and you have to take out their grid while defending your own grid at the same time. For that you need a shielded planet and some good scripts.

You probably both know of the following sites, one of which has information specifically intended for returning players, and the other is more or less a tradewars encyclopaedia: Guide to returning players: http://www.navhaz.com/tutorials/ Very good info: http://tw-cabal.navhaz.com/Kav

Don't let anyone intimidate you. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=35271This file will help. Admittedly, the learning curve is steep but the game is still awesome. There are some building games on ICE9 that will be right up your alley. All of the figs in open space are toll figs. People will leave you alone while you build your base. Welcome back. H

Thanks. That's why I always run time limit games. You have to wait for your enemy to log off before you hit their figs.

Thanks. Did you miss anything in this list? Lol! So... I hate to brag, but I think I have a reasonable edit for returning players: http://www.microblaster.net/ServerDetai ... erverid=66"Revenge of the Newbies!" is the one! Yay!

One day, the entire Tradewars 2002 fanbase will tremble at the mere mention of "Lionmane." Too bad it's not my name!?!?! -Krovach
