 New Weapon M OSX Installer
If anyone is running OSX, please give the new experimental Weapon M installer a try and let me know how it works: http://weapon-m.herokuapp.com/download/ ... taller.dmgThis installer requires Oracle Java 1.7. If you don't have it installed, you should be able to find it here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... index.html I think you should be able to install the JRE Every time it starts, it should also try to update itself automatically, so you'll always have the latest version. Weapon M is still in the very early stages, but this way you can follow along just by running it periodically. Also, if you run Windows or Linux and are interested in a Weapon M installer, let me know.

Re: New Weapon M OSX Installer
I tried it with 1.8.2 mountain lion. no luck. I get a black rectangle that just sits there.
oh wait. I found I had to drag the weaponm file to a place i wanted to run it from. so i threw it into applications.
i haven't found where it is putting databases yet, and what not. it doesn't seem to create those.
but i'll keep looking. but when i open weapon m. it does do its loading screen now.

At the least, I'll add better error handling to indicate it needs to be coped to Applications. Re: New Weapon M OSX Installer
this is kind of strange. i search and search for the new databases that were created, but the mac search doesn't find them.
when i go to terminal and list contents of my user directory. i don't see the .weaponm directory in which databases is kept. and a script directory i assume should be there too. now i said i didn't see it. with ls. sooo. i jsut changed directory to .weaponm and now i can see the databases directory and the contents of it.
its strange that i can't see it in finder. or terminal though. is it because it has . ?
i even searched for specific databases because i knew there were there somewhere.

Directories in unix-like operating systems, including OSX in this case, treat directories beginning with a "." to be hidden. Windows has a similar flag, though not as often used. You can find hidden directories with "ls -a", which means "all, including hidden". I don't use the mac search, but surely there is a way to search hidden directories as well. If it is too confusing, I can change the Weapon M home directory to be more mac-like, which would put it in $HOME/Application Support IIRC.

Re: New Weapon M OSX Installer
sure. that first package you made added all the directories. its this last one that didn't put scripts or log directory. it just made the databases one.
yea i had all files shown. all hidden in finder. thats what i thought about the . directories. I even looked it up online about how to show it. none worked. i even typed a command to turn on show all files in finder at the terminal prompt.

Get Text Wrangler (a free download on the App Store) it has a option to show hidden files and directories. H

Re: New Weapon M OSX Installer
If you are on a retina MacBook Pro, you may notice the osx installer that requires Java 7 looks like crap. Apparently this is a known issue with the Oracle version of Java that won't be fixed soon, so I created an installer for Java 6, the last version that comes with OSX. While not perfect, it looks a whole lot better...

Re: New Weapon M OSX Installer
I am having a hard time getting any scripts to show up in the script menu. I navigated to .weaponm and I see the databases directory. so i figured i need to add a scripts directory. so i did and put my scripts in it. jsut as I sent you.
I reload weapon m and it can't find any of them. and shows nothing in the script menu.
I am using the auto-update version with the current mac installer. I dragged weapons.app into a directory in applications. i even tried adding a directory in there adjacent to weapons.app called scripts with the scripts inside. but nothing.

Scripts are located in the .weaponm/scripts directory. If it doesn't exist, you may need to create. I'll ensure it'll create that directory automatically. Also, you'll need to check or clear your preferences as any values there override the location of that directory.

I had to edit the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.java.util.prefs.plist file manually to change "./scripts" to "scripts". I think there is a reason no Java app uses preferences nowadays Which installer did you use? If using the Java 7 one (Weapon M Installer.dmg), then the preferences may be in a different location.
