Unread post Returning player, issue with Mombot
Hey all, just getting back to playing and before I got into any games I wanted to get comfortable with running a bot again so I am playing locally on my laptop in an unlimited game so I can test stuff out. One thing I have noticed is the WSST feature in Mombot will not furb. I have watched it and if left long enough will run even when down to 5 holds on one of the ships... Here is the command I set:

wsst 3 2 f s safe 1 quiet

what am i doing wrong? why won't it furb at sector 1?

You need to use the name of the port you are furbing at instead of "1". (examples: Terra, Dock, Alpha, Rylos)

If this is a v2 server it could be another script that doesn't work well with the changes made in that version. I haven't played v2 enough to know exactly which scripts work and which ones don't. I do know about half of the existing scripts that were tested in v1.03 had issues with v2.

Make sure you have the newest version of Mombot, there were changes. The newest works on both v2 and v1.03

I am not sure if it is the newest out there, the version I have is __mom_bot3_1045 there is a .ts and .cts. Is that one supposed to work on both?

Thanks for responding Toyman, much appreciated.

One thing I have noticed with wsst on v.1045 is that it tends not to furb when you add certain options to the command, in particular "safe."

I've never bothered going through the code trying to find where the bug is, the "safe" mode isn't particularly safe anyway; it does scan and avoid things, BUT it still has to get to Fed or a Class0 to furb, so it just mows merrily to those locations once it's done stealing. Which means you'll still get easily ptorped or dropped if someone is targeting you.

Generally I just don't use "safe" or "passive" modes because they're buggy, and they not only slow the rate you're stealing at, they are also not safe at all.

Just try what you've been doing but without the extras:

wsst 3 f s
wsst 3 f s terra (or Rylos, or Alpha - Stardock is default if you don't nter anytihng)
wsst 3 40000000 f s
wsst 3 f s limp
wsst 3 40000000 f s limp

All these command strings seem to work - With "3" being the number of the other ship you want to xport to when stealing, and in the second example 40mil being the limit where you want it to drop credits in a citadel when you start the script from there.

BTW Welcome back Corran, I remember playing with you a few games on Vid's : )
