Post subject:  Swath connection problems
My new returning player has paid for Swath codes and is timing out before he can connect to the server in Sweden. Does anyone have any ideas?


"Swath 2.0 still denies my connection to 2nd server Swath 1.98 hangs on trying to connect to 2nd server and then windows chimes in and says the program stopped working."

The day is gonna come when SWATH is no longer supported.

Then the player is SOL. That's the downside of using an authentication service like SWATH does.

Actually the authors promised to release a version that doesnt check in if they ever decide to stop development and support.

We got it, another returning player had trouble. I still can't get 2.0 to run for me, it always crashes. I gave her 1.98.

I paid for Swath 2.0 via swath website paypal a few days ago. I have received no registration information from swath people. Paypal informed me that they were going to deduct my account soon.

I am using Ubuntu and Swath 2.0 via wine. I think I may need to install Java in order to get more out of swath, does anyone have any suggestions?

Also is there another helper app that I could use on Ubuntu / wine that will give me good functionality?

Just started playing TW again after a 20+ year hiatus.

Welcome back! Your name looks familiar, what player name did you use most often when you played before?

I seem to remember having some weird problems with SWATH scripts under WINE. Maybe it's obvious, but you need to install the Windows JRE inside WINE; SWATH can't use your Linux JRE. Even then, it's quirky.

I wrote a pure Java helper a few years ago. It's basically functional, but it never really lived up to my expectations and there aren't many scripts for it. I'm itching to work on it again, but I've been too busy with my day job and a new baby.
