Post subject:  Please help a newbie with scripts.....

Hey guys,

I haven't played TW2002 since the good old BBS days, when I was running a 56k modem and TWATS (Trade Wars Advanced Tactical System), which was in 1998. I decided I want to play again, so I purchased and downloaded SWATH, and I have a fairly good handle on how it works. I'm completely lost when it comes to scripts, though. I see 4 different script types in the Scripts menu (Java, Rexx/ZOC, RevHelper, and TWX Proxy), but there are no scripts listed under the submenu. Are these scripts I have to download and install? If so, can someone please post links where I may find them?

Thanks!

Hi! Welcome back!

You have to load the scripting app you want, in *addition* to SWATH. SWATH then logs into the scripting app and then you can login to Tradewars from the scripting app. It sounds complicated, and it *is* the first time you try it. But once you understand the concept of "SWATH logs into the scripting app, and then the scripting app logs into the Tradewars server" then the rest starts to make sense.

I've used SWATH and TWXProxy to great effect in several games. TWXProxy seems to have the most (public) support and it has a very nice selection of scripts that come with it.

Eventually you'll hear about "MomBot." This script is used by TWXProxy, so that's another reason you might want to start with TWXProxy. But one step at a time!

Guys,

Thanks so much for the info! I will check out the Grimy Trader, read up on TWX Proxy, and install and give it a try.

In your SWATH directory should be a Scripts subdirectory filled with scripts. The ones with extension .java are source code, the ones with extension .class are the executables.

Now follow the menus Edit | Preferences | Scripts | Page 1 you will find entries for Java Virtual Machine and Java Root. Make sure the first points to your java installation and the second should point to your Swath/Scripts directory, or wherever you may be storing your compiled scripts.

See if this gets you started OK. Come back if this doesn't get you working.

Also, If your running a 64bit, and have the 64bit version of java, then swath does not like that, as Swath is a 32bit program. You need to download and install a 32bit version of Java.

Firstly , welcome back again :)

On this site I have posted a text file called Swath and TWX
TWX is the short name for TWX Proxy.
Its a scripting language and App of its own.
Do not include it into a Swath directory , but make the folder off of your C drive
close as possible to the root.

Find that text file I suggest and it will lead you into the hand shaking of Swath and TWX so your almost ready to connect to a server of your choosing.

Swath is a great platform (telnet window) , but the back bone to playing will
reside in TWX proxy scripts for the most part.

This site contains many of the scripts you will need.
Grimmies is old and many do not post there anymore.

Good luck on your ventures and hope to catch you out there
in a builder game somewhere getting to know your new tools.

For New and Returning players as well as anyone looking to
eliminate any log in problems they have had in the past ...
Do to being disconnected or their bot acting up.

I have Added to [url]] http://www.grimytrader.com/index.cfm [/url
Grimy Traders my collection of log in and start up scripts.

It can (in global.cfg) be programmed to launch YOUR bot
as well as make/join a corp and so many other things.

Those who have used my 0_login in the past will need to delete
or rename your old Global.cfg from your TWX root directory
because of the new " Land on Planet" feature I just Added.

There are 4 new scripts (updates and new)
please Try them and Rate them.

These scripts were inspired by my many years of playing ,
and the needs of many players in games and tournaments over the years.

I have even offered my 0_login to members of our opposing team in a tournament to help them get back into game without being killed again.
Log story .. they refused to use it and got their team mate to sacrifice themselves to get them in.

Sad , but now maybe you or someone you care for will try this at tera after being killed and let them know IT works .. just leave you a fueled up twarp ship to get home with and you can come in and land on tera (automatically) and you can use the built in tera kit to get out safely.
Just one feature of the 0_login.

Sorry so long ... but have fun with these scripts , I have ..

I figured I might share something to help you test these scripts ..

If you landed on a planet (planet prompt then cit.)
seen your planet number with the CN_Background script running
after loging in with 0_login and edited the Global.cfg
to Land on Planet: Y

I made a macro (Hammer Icon) in Swath & set a trigger (Bell Icon)
macro Name : connect_disconnect macro: $c
Trigger: + key on the numeric key pad to launch said macro

This connects me or disconnects me very fast.
A good way to simulate a server dropping you
for script testing.

Thought I'd share that bit of info.
