Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the software, or perhaps with the way I loaded it. Figured coming here was the best way to deal with it. The info below are excerpts from the TWGS control panel error log and game log.

----------------------------

I am curious about the files TWSect.DAT, and TWUser.DAT. They were ejected while trying to access them. Could these files be corrupted?

A little bit of background on how I loaded the update.

I was running .47 and I downloaded .57 and executed it. It installed perfectly with no indications of problems. I did not re-bang any of the games after the install. Should I have to?

I just noted something from the screen capture one of my players sent to me. The time indicator at the bottom doesn't seem to be updating or working for that matter. In the screen capture below I have bolded the indicator I'm refering to.

------ Screen Capture -----------
Sector : 17674 in uncharted space.
Ports : Bone Cruncher, Class 8 (BBB)
(Under Construction - 9 days left)
Planets : (I) Detante'
(I) Organ Donor
(I) Type A Personality
(I) Atom Smasher
(I) Glory
(I) Monster Magnet
(I) Corporate Raiders
Ships : Asuup Haleqoz [Owned by] Smasher Inc. [1], w/ 300,000 ftrs,
(IonStream Improved SCT)
Fighters: 3,998,198 (belong to your Corp) [Defensive]
Warps to Sector(s) : 3554 - 7080

Command [TL=00:00:00]:[17674] (?=Help)? : S
------------------------------------
Now honestly I never really paid any attention to that before. Perhaps it has never worked. I'm not really sure, but I thought I'd provide it to you.

Is any of this indicators of problems. If so what would you recommend? Re-bang, update, or?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Brian

[TL=00:00:00] indicates there is no time limit. That is not your problem.

And I hope you changed the sector numbers ot that this isn't an active game. If it is active and you didn't, everyone can know where he is now.

lol I was Macroing into this sector and it was booting me as well as you can see. However, I doubt that this is reason to "rebang". I knowthat this was an overlay in the middle of a game from version .45 to .57. I was perplexed as to why it was booting me while I was attacking. So what I did was to change a bit the way in which I was attacking and take it a bit slower. This seemed to fix the problem. The person under attack seemed not to have any issues on my end. The reason that I say this is that insted of attacking or returning attacks while I was removing the 5 milliion figs in the sector in which he was in, he only set there to complain. There are however other things that could stand some explaining that has happened in the game, but for now. I will just live with the idea that the game is over and move on.

I think when you upgrade to that extent .. you should re-bang
even if you kept the same random seed .
The main thing is the newer data is stored a bit differantly as well as new things added to Tedit.
And now the data TWSEC.Dat file is currupt.
A bang will probly make it playable again.

<side note>
make backup before upgrades in future.

Dont worry rofellos the sector number is not a problem. We took that base in 2 min to Crunchers suprise. I am sure we will hear about it. H prob does not realise that even though he has a ship IG on that we can retreat off his defensive figs. He prob also does not realise that with the offensive ship fig odds it only took us half as many figs as he had in his sector and he prob does not realise that he should have attacked our guy who was in the sector with him killing his figs. So plan on seeing this in the Smack Talk soon.

Ya I was quit surprised when he did not attack back, we were ready for that, but it could have hindered our invasion, to almost not be able to remove all fig's. But i will say, that I was running some macro's also in the game and was getting booted, so maybe a re-Bang of all games is in order.

Right and at the same time that it was booting Major and Cruncher Tige and I were getting hung up. I was doing a SH and the data would not show for about 15 seconds. Rebang is fine now we have taken the whole game.

Ya a re-bang is needed to avoid the Mega-Aliens, they are everywhere. but it was weird that slowed us all down at the same time.

To Major Payne: I have to check on you being able to retreat off the defensive figs with me in the sector in an active IC. That doesn't sound right. If that is the case, it is a bug that needs to be repaired because it's just not right.

Secondly, I didn't attack because the game would not let me attack, the minute you entered the sector I was booted from the game. I was booted from the game during the entire time you were attacking the defensive figs. I could not initiate commands and I could not stay in the game. Furthermore, on my final entry into the game (after being rebooted) I found that I was no longer in an IC, but instead was in a Starship, and my IC had vanished into thin air!

I made captures of all of this.

Now, the question remains, is there a glitch somewhere, and if so, did you KNOW about it? If you knew, and instead of reporting it you took advantage of it, well... we all know where I'm headed with that. By the way, I use the name Cruncher at this site, in case anyone is wondering!

You are wrong, I did realize everything else you mentioned, the only thing I didn't realize is that somewhere the game has either been changed, in that, you can now retreat off of defensive figs with an active IC in the sector, (if it was changed deliberately I highly disagree with the change).

Bottom line, I'm very suspicious that these errors occurred at the exact moment you entered my sector, and furthermore, you were the only one who benefited from the errors. I find that highly suspicious in and of itself!

As for game A, you should be banned for killing the UN planet! Hint: Before playing a game, read the rules, and, read the sector beacons, there were plenty saying UN PLANET DO NOT DESTROY!

If I were Brian, you'd get booted and your IP permanently banned, but that's just me.

oh, I see it was Demon and not MajorPayne who said I didn't realize it would only take half the fighters with ship odds at 1.8.

That's just ridiculous, I was counting on the IC holding, which it of course should have. Is there any way to get word to eisonline that they mucked up? The IC is supposed to hold with figs in the sector that's the point of the IC. Sheesh!

If the IC would have held, with 4 million figs in the sector it would have taken more people than you had in the game to survive an assault. I could have sat there destroying you as you entered. Which was my plan of course, and it would've worked if not for these bugs and the suspicious way the game booted me every time my sector was assaulted!

I don't buy that this was just a co-incidence, it's simply just too convenient.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Well I'm not sure of anything anymore. Both Cruncher and Majorpayne were bounced three times by the system. I tend to agree with Vid Kid and tIGE at this point. Perhaps a re-bang to try and correct the problem as well as allow me to implement my new game plan to have one game with some rules, and another with none.

I am pretty sure at this point that no one cheated. I think it is just a problem with corrupted files, probably from the upgrade without re-bang. If I do decide to re-bang, and I'm about 90% sure I will, it will be this Friday evening. I will be sending out the e-mail to notify all my registered users of it. None of them will be required to re-register. The re-bang notice will fly tonight if it flies.

Thanks again for all the input and support.
Brian

1st off you were talking to us durning the attack the whole time. Second IC doesnt work if there are figs in the Sector only Planets will keep the attaker in the sector. Futhermore it is weird how you were gone the whole attack but, seemd to be talking Smack the whole time.. As I remeber you said is that all you got! how can you talk and be booted. Read the log Major was booted also.

PS. there are some things in the game that we dont understand either. But I will leave it at that.
