What scroll bug? Are you using Firefox?

Yes Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape all have that scrolling bug because they do Standard HTML from the W3C and Microsoft's Internet Explorer does non-standard HTML to cover up the mistakes that web masters make when they mangle up the HTML in tables, forums, etc. So IE automatically closes off tables and forms and reformats them to look right for you, and the other browsers do not.

http://www.mozilla.org/ is where you can download Firefox or Mozilla and try them out, they are free to download and a donation is optional. You will then want the HTML Validator extension (extra download) which will show you the HTML errors and warnings on each page. For example, this thread and the form entry has 8 HTML errors and 310 warnings on it according to the HTML Validator that uses W3C standards.

The errors are as follows:
HTML Validation Result
----------------------
http://www.tw-attac.com/TWForum/topic.a ... C_ID=19512

line 669 column 71 - Warning: missing </font> before <table>
line 680 column 17 - Error: discarding unexpected </span>
line 680 column 24 - Error: discarding unexpected </font>
line 686 column 15 - Error: discarding unexpected </form>
line 656 column 15 - Warning: missing </form>
line 688 column 11 - Error: discarding unexpected </td>
line 689 column 9 - Error: discarding unexpected </tr>

Too many errors. Not all warnings/errors were shown.
8 errors / 310 warnings

I trimmed out some of the warnings and kept the errors. As you can see there are non-Standard table, font, and form tags or some of them are missing. This can cause blank spaces in standard HTML browsers and cause that scrolling issue because it can take up to a full page or more of blank space. IE filters that out by closing off table, font, and form tags automatically. I tried to get Mozilla to fix these issues, but they called them WONTFIX issues because they are features and not bugs. They said the web masters should fix their HTML errors rather than have Mozilla or Firefox figure out ways around those errors.

I hope this makes sense.

Here I just did validation on another thread:

HTML Validation Result
----------------------
http://www.tw-attac.com/TWForum/topic.a ... C_ID=19504

line 319 column 9 - Error: discarding unexpected </form>
line 578 column 342 - Error: discarding unexpected </span>
line 578 column 349 - Error: discarding unexpected </font>
line 711 column 342 - Error: discarding unexpected </span>
line 711 column 349 - Error: discarding unexpected </font>
line 812 column 17 - Error: discarding unexpected </span>

Too many errors. Not all warnings/errors were shown.
12 errors / 457 warnings

I trimmed out the warnings, and only showed some of the errors. I can email you the whole set, or you can download Firefox and the HTML validatior and check for yourself.

I expect most of the errors are from the menus. I am looking at possibilities to replace them. As i mentioned before, i am open to suggestions.

Well I suggest you try to see what the HTML looks like in Firefox as well as IE when you are doing the fixings. If it works with Firefox it should work with Mozilla and Netscape as well. Maybe Opera as well.

There are players trying to use Linux, Mac OSX, and other OSes besides Windows now, so IE is not an option for them. Firefox exists for almost every known modern OS out there.

Besides IE has huge gaping security flaws that allow Malware to be installed without letting the user know, Firefox is not as bad, but I think Opera is better but has advertising unless you register Opera.

Kudos to EIS and you for not having those annoying pop-up ads that install malware and use tracking cookies, etc.

Here is the scroll bug as it looks like on Firefox:

Click on it, and view it in 100% mode, you will see what we mean. Annoying, isn't it?

Thanks blaster, and yeah, it's really annoying

Mozilla is the best browser I've EVER used, and I fell in love with it. very smart, and unlimited potential, I thought EVERYONE had the same scrolling issue, but yeah, it's annoying

I aim to please, Graz. If I can help by providing information and a screen shot of the problem, I can do that. BTW it is Blastar, as in Blast and Star with the ST merged, sort of like a Super Nova. Not a Blaster, Blastar means Mighty Warrior in Viliani Galanglec. People often get that confused. [:)]

Anyway Mozilla was turned into Firefox and Thunderbird, Firefox is a stand alone web browser and Thunderbird is a stand alone E-Mail client. Mozilla has both web browser and email client built in. Firefox was made to be more like Internet Explorer and Thunderbird was made to be more like Outlook Express or Outlook. At least in the way they look and feel. Thunderbird is a great email client that does not have the security flaws that Outlook Express or Outlook has (which allows viruses via email for Outlook Express and Outlook because they use IE for HTML rendering and even GIF and JPG exploits exist for IE that can run code on your system) and Thunderbird has features the Outlooks don't have like build in Spam controls, etc.

Anyway I set some relatives up with Mozilla before Firefox came out, they love it. No more malware infections, except for realatives of mine who have teenage daughters or sons who use file sharing networks and run anything they find on them. I think the record so far is like 2000+ malware infections, the average is usually 300+ malware infections. If they use IE again, it also causes Malware infections. So far, Firefox and Mozilla have not gotten infected like IE has on my friends and relatives systems I set them up on.

Anyway my suggestion is still to use Firefox or Mozilla with the HTML Validation extension:
http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/

Download Firefox or Mozilla from here:
http://www.mozilla.com/

It should be easier to debug the HTML violations via the validator than add in new SNITZ menus and reprogram everything to work with them.

Thats why you need a good A/V program checking the Emails too. hehe.

They had one, only it did not detect GIF and JPEG files that caused an exploit in IE to load malware off of the Internet when the GIF or JPEG was viewed. The virus was not in the GIF or JPEG which passed scanning, but the GIF and JPEG had data which caused a buffer overrun in IE, forcing it to vist a URL that had an infected ActiveX control or ran an EXE file on it that infected the system when the GIF or JPEG was loaded in Outlook, which uses IE to render HTML email.

Thunderbird turns off images by default from emails that do not have a return address in your address book to prevent that sort of thing from happening. Outlook and Outlook express have not added that feature yet, nor have they added built in Spam controls either. Thunderbird uses the Mozilla HTML rendering for Email, which doesn't have the IE exploits in it.

Honestly, you can have a good A/V scanner and still get infected. It is almost like not having Norton or McAfee for some of the ways systems get infected out there by browser exploits and image viewing exploits in IE. Quit using IE and Outlook, and it avoids those exploits.

BTW Outlook isn't nicknamed Lookout for nothing.[:o)]

Yeah one year of updates for $35USD to Norton or McAfee or else you won't be protected from the latest viruses. Sort of a Mafia-like insurance protection program.

Spysweeper, AVG-Free, BlackIce are really good.

Spysweeper does subscriptions as well, but only until the next major version comes out. I had like a 3.5 version, but they allowed me to upgrade to the 4.5 version for free. I am paid up until like 2007, though.
