I have a DSL problem I can't seem to resolve with Verizon.  They issue a private IP number (192.168.1.47) which only people on the the area network can connect to.  My public IP is 72.69.80.160 until I turn off my modem when it will change.  But to make a long story short, no one can telnet to my public IP.  I have no router and I thought maybe the Westell 6100 modem they sent was also a router, but Verizon swears up and down that it's not and that it can't be configured.  Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this problem?
If so, email me at earlholt@verizon.net">dearlholt@verizon.net
or ICQ me at 121004329

1: Change ports to 2002 instead of 23. 23 is often firewalled.

2: Check your software firewalls (windows firewall, etc).

3: Do yourself a favor and get a no-ip.info address, makes it easier to change when ur network does.

US Robotics has come out with a little line of all in one gateways/wireless gateways, I just upgraded from one as my old networking equipment was giving me guff everyday whenever I turned on/booted my computer. I also got a new USR Gigabit card to go with it. The gateway is smoking hot and not do hard to set it up. Now I have one unit that runs my printer, modem, and router; rather then two separate units for modem, router, and wireless. That thing runs really hot though, sorta worries me, but so far so good. All you actually need though is the modem for a basic connection, everything else is just icing on your technological cake.

Speaking of cakes, keep an eye out for this bad boy next year:

Naw, it wasn't my network, it was Verizon.  They had to release thier firewall for me to recieive connections.  As far as the redirect, I'm in the process of registering silverwingstwgs.com now.
Thanks for the input tho.
