Why can't you talk this way on the outpost-4.com forum Cerne?

see, this is where you are doing it backwards.
For someone to be a mod, and therefore have power over their peers, they should be respected by their peers first (not have to try and earn it after) and they should be able to handle themselves accordingly.
In my mind, if a mod gets "insulted" or "smacked" they have 3 options.
1) take it as it is, and defend themselves (if they did no wrong, it should be easy, and if they are at fault, apologize, explain, and all is fine)
2) take it horribly, go crazy, abuse their power, become a nazi
3) if it is uncalled for, if it's the same person over and over, if it's in a thread where it doesn't belong, and the person just won't get a clue, inform an admin of the situation, ask for a 3 day ban, or something, and handle it that way.
Right now, all I've seen is #2, and then people defending #2.
Umm, good game?

Well, there's where I disagree with you on several issues.
!) Mods and Admins need to earn respect. Vulcan, SG, Silent, OSO have earned my respect. I may have missed a couple because I'm not sure exactly who all the mods are.
2) If there is no smack forum, then smack will be in every forum. I'm not guessing at this, I've seen it 1st hand. That's where mods step in and start deleting posts and the next thing you know they are banning people, then guess what. Everyone leaves. This isn't speculation. This is fact.
3) As far as a section of the forum for mods and admin to communicate, heh I don't think the members care one way or the other how they communicate. I suppose that would be pretty easy to pull of since they do have access to the forum.
We all have our opinions about what would be best for this forum, but not all have seen the results of what some actions can cause.

As far as I am concerned, anybody who chooses not to follow the rules laid down by the staff in the forums should get what they deserve. There is no reason to delete posts ever (my opinion), just make a comment and lock the thread. Or the way Silence does it, edit the post with a comment and don't lock the thread. Simple. Or it would be simple if there were consequences directly connected to breaking the rules.
The smack forum should stay for player smack about the games and the traders playing them. But every time someone steps over the line and disrespects the person behind the trader they should be slapped down hard, every single time, until the message gets through that disrespect to the person behind the trader will not be tolerated. How hard can it be, we are supposed to be adults here.
I don't what the right formula is or the right way it should be done but the smack forum is out of control, almost everyone has lost sight of the difference between the trader and the person. How can one ask anybody to give respect if no respect is offered in return.

Great.
Would y'all mind sharing the posts (not the votes) with us? Gotta be more fun to read than a human should be permitted to have.

No kav, thats the whole point.
I will tell you though that the point of contestion right now is an updated set of rules for these forums.
The admin team layed them out, it is up to us mods to come to an agreement, while not severely changing the general idea.

Yes, that would be a tough road to hoe. I can imagine what was put before you to decide upon. I really wouldn't want to be in the mods shoes right now.

No doubt it will have holes for those who wish to abuse those holes. Honestly I hope they are fair enough that nobody goes that road.

Shame, shame, Big D. You know that accusations of dupe and cheating without proof come most often from players who just got their rears kicked.
Cerne is someone who returned to the game after years away. He has been a pleasant surprise on our random selection corp in the turns game.
Sounds to me that he's had some experience with forum rules and was merely making suggestions.
Now behave, sweetie.

Dangit girl. Was that a post from this year or last? I think maybe you are about 4398 posts behind.
Put your Butt up there. I'll post even more.
