This forum should be only visible to mods and admin.  If you choose not to do that, at least make it to where all topics are closed.  It makes no sense for grievances to receive responses from other members.  This might as well be another Smack talk area if it remains this way.

I believe they have an option to let people post but not view posts.  I may be wrong.  On the other hand, I'm sure they can close topics, announcements only.

Look how Maniac's Thread turned out.  Thats a good reason for leaving the forum the way it is now.  There was only one smack post in it and that one wasn't aimed at the thread and could have easily been removed or commented out since it had nothing to do with the topic.

The way you want it, we wouldn't need a forum. The complaints could be sent by PM. As for your belief that the forum will turn into another smack forum... well that should not happen if the admin do the jobs we expect of them. You are completely right in that we do already have a smack forum. Hopefully any attempt at smack here will be dealt with ruthlessly.

is that if the moderators didn't deal ruthlessly with flames or
off-topic posts outside the smack forum, we wouldn't need them would
we? I hope this makes more sense.

Yeah do away with all of us, we all have done bad things to everyone. Come on, stop lumping us together, not all of us delete posts and move them. Some sit back watch and wait untill they are needed to do are job.

Your post just proved my point.  Smack talk.  How did Maniacs thread concern you?  Why was it any of your business at all?  You had no say of what the outcome would be.  Why would you even post in it?  Let's just change the name of this thread to smack talk grievance and I'm sure you will be satisfied.  Geesh.

D, I totally agree with you. There should not be any posting in this forum in regards to the complaints made. And a mod coming in here defending his/her actions is even more inappropriate than the users posting responses here.

I will look at seeing if the topics can be set to no visibility to others or set them to lock after the poster posts, this way it will keep the smack out of this forum.

If you do that, the self-policing part that naturally comes with a forum like this will come to an end. I think would be better if someone just dealt with the smack posts directly. Its pretty easy nail the folks that post anything inflammatory or off topic. Even posts directed at other posters and not at the thread topic should be handled that way. Silence puts 'comments' to good use to do that.

Edit: I think you need a moderator for this forum to address these
issues. I'd say Big D could do it or I volunteer. Its not like the
posts in this thread are game related so there wouldn't be a problem if
a game n00b moderated it.  And in D's favor is the fact hes been around
for a long time and will have experience with the issues raised here.

Sorry for asking bro but who made that decision? You? When I suggested a forum like this, it was with the idea to get the mod/admin/server complaints out of smack and into a place like every other forum where the discussion wasn't anything goes and that disrespect would not be tolerated. I think you are missing the point. If every thread is only 1 post long here then any discussion about the complaint will happen in Smack, just like it is happening now. And that would make this forum a total waste of time and energy
