So you reserve the right to reveal our data?
Isn't that in and of itself an invasion of privacy?
Someone really needs to revise this.

The law according to whom?
That's one of the issues with the internet. Whose law will apply?

The whole EULA thing seems to be politics since you can't even see it until AFTER you have registered and activated your account.
At some point unknown to me, the site permissions were changed so that a guest cannot even read the support forums without registering an account. If you want to give it a test, just logout and then click the link to Tradewars Forums.
That is another thing that should change, allow the unregistered to read the support forums.

From what I know that is a mistake. Jp wanted to make the smack not visible for guest and for some reason the forum is not visible to any guest, I've notified Jp a few days ago of that and this should be fixed by your admins soon.
I'm always here and I'm the most neutral of all but I don't have any power so I can only sit tell Jp and watch
Feeling a bit useless on that knowing I'm a pro webmaster.
And let's be honnest, If I step in as an admin to help you guys out, people will cry outloud Sylien has taken over... all is lost... and blablabla. So I rather watch and do my twt news once in a while as long as the forum last and that's about it.

I*...
Cern, some of your language changes are inaccurate. For instance "about children" is not appropriate in all circumstances, from children, however fits the wording of the law.
http://www.coppa.org/coppa.htm
"(A) the release of personal information collected from a child in identifiable form by an operator for any purpose, except where such information is provided to a person other than the operator who provides support for the internal operations of the website and does not disclose or use that information for any other purpose; and
(B) making personal information collected from a child by a website or online service directed to children or with actual knowledge that such information was collected from a child, publicly available in identifiable form, by any means including by a public posting, through the Internet, or through— "
From a child... that's clearly the intent of the wording of the law.
Quote: Any personal information you do provide is protected by the appropriate privacy laws. But we also reserve the right to reveal whatever information we know about you to the appropriate law enforcement agencies in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message or file posted by you. So if I post my name, age, address, etc, in a msg then it is protected by privacy laws? Of course not. That's just silly. But at the same time I would expect this site not to distribute my email address to spammers. These details need specified further. Quote: Server Side law apply on internet.
Not always. It also applies client-side as well. If I'm in a state that forbids certain material and you post it in your state, and if the server is in a 3rd state, all 3 jurisdictions can come into play. This is why it's a good idea to specify the jurisdiction of such matters in the EULA.
And yes it needs work, and I'm confident it will be revised many more times before it's done.
Really, ya'll should contact an attorney versed in these matters. Nothing is cut and dry here.
