Looking at this forum and the people who have leadership roles in it ive come to realize that MOST of the people who are Admins/mods are no longer active players in this community. Some are still here but many others you do not see. Some have passed away. And I know this many rub some the wrong way but its time to move on from that. It makes the forum look dated. its time remove the flagged posts and move forward. Also I think we should look at the admins/mods who are gone or have moved on and remove them and make room for new ones. It might help liven up the community a bit.

As I said this may make some unhappy and im sorry for that. but it is time to move on. Someone had to say it so it might as well be me.

I agree with this sentiment. Honestly, it is a bit tiresome scrolling through some of these threads looking for new posts, past all of the stickies. Also, old unused user accounts should be cleared away, such as users that have never posted and have not visited for the last x-years.

Also, I wouldn't mind volunteering to do forum/site updates, such as installing mods, perhaps updating phpBB (although the new version uses a plugin system, which I am not yet familiar with.) I think it would be nice to have a TWGS/TW2002 bug tracking/ticket area, similar threads, updating the template and forum options, chat area, adding a floating menu (including a new user and game resources area), red/blue ranks, a coding syntax highlighter (including TWX Proxy), etc.

I will be the first to admit that I don't have time for
competitive games. I will further stipulate that I am,
at best, a mediocre player and script writer. I have a
game going, a stalemated burnt out game where I am
basically testing scripts. I just come by and look in on
discussions and pipe in my occasional snarky comment.

Sorry if you feel the forum isn't responsive to your needs...

I personally have never felt that way... Yes, sometimes responses are slow, but the mods are generally there when we really need them!

Well I knew it would be taken the wrong way by active mods. As I said some of you are fine. I was thinking of ways to breath new life into this forum by replacing some of them who have moved on is all i was saying.

I don't think a review is a bad idea.

I've seen posts take 1-2 weeks to be approved. Which is slow.. And if people are offering to help why not let them?

One of the forums had a "new post" icon for months once, then suddenly some post from a newbie appeared that was 2 months old. I'm sure they never came back.

It's not criticism.. it's a suggestion once again.

Mods/Admin are best if not seen or heard from. If you are hearing from them then there is usually a problem. I find it easier if people mod themselves but occasionally you have to step in and take control. Mods are limited to what we can do, edit/lock posts or threads is really about it. If I want to give a timeout I have to ask mob just like anyone else.

If someone wants to be a mod belly up and ask for a position. I know there are some I haven't heard from in over a year.....and they are probably like me....you want the job I would gladly step aside.

I make changes to scripts for people or write from scratch depending on what someone wants.....odds are if I wasn't a mod I would have stopped cold turkey when I quit playing. Being a mod is about the only reason I really stay connected to this community as I have ZERO desire to ever play again.

Nah, I understand. There are several that I haven't seen in a long time. What I am suggesting is talk with mob if there is an area, the person modding that group may not care or has just moved on and we can find them. If interested there is no harm. I only stay cause RP walked away and no one has stepped up wanting the job ;)

I don't think you said anything SK that should make anyone here upset. Your points are facts. You also have to consider that this game is decades old, with no true revival in its near future. This forum is dated as is this game. I think this forum should be considered a library of its beginning, the influence people had, whats tolerated whats not, the traders who have come, gone and passed along with a current place for traders to communicate. With that said...

We can consolidate stickies that might no longer be relevant to that forum. We can also add mods if we see the forum needs are more active then the mod who is supporting the forum. Any other suggestions SK please feel free to PM me, not saying you cannot speak about this openly. Just an offer.
