Set up your TWGS for dummies??
LOL, so I have alot of questions, been playing this game for 10 years + but I have never ran my own server. Have the new TWGS downloaded, just have a few curious questions, first how can you get a custom name for people to connect to vs an ip address, second if you dont have a dedicated machine for the TWGS how bad will performance suffer? Running with 4GB of ram 520 GB hard drive i3 processor windows 7 connection speed can be ugpraded to 25 mb down and 5 mb up just wondering what steps to take... any help is appreciated.

Re: Set up your TWGS for dummies??
Bandwidth is prolly fine, as long as you don't have any CPU-intensive processes interfere with the TW2002 processes, that will be fine too. So while a dedicated machine isn't vital, you don't want to run a TW server on your everyday desktop either. To get a "name" for people to connect to, you need to sign up for a dyndns provider. It will allow you to attach your dynamic IP to a name.

Nodes: 1/1 Games: 0/1
Creating player listener... Querying server IP addresses... Resolving name address to IP address... Binding player listener... Error binding player listener (10049) Closing player listener... Cleaning up...
any ideas...?? thought you could do 1 connection and 1 game for free...

Re: Set up your TWGS for dummies??
Configure the server to use auto, and make sure the port you're using is open. The "error binding to listener" means it isn't binding to the port you've specified.
As for which dyndns, I pay $10 a year for navhaz on namecheap, and am happy with namecheap's dyndns service. Otherwise, just go with no-ip.com or dyndns.com.

Just stay with the standard ones , 23 or 2002
be sure to change the default admin password ... something all sysops should know and do.

If you set to auto and continue to see this error, email me so I can help troubleshoot it.
