Hi C, N, 2 it'll shut off your ANSI graphics. That should fix the issue.

That is not a bug , its a new feature added to the V2 server to show you the delay in a warp out.
If you type CN2 to turn off your animation , you should not see this delay progress bar.

Plus you will not get the extra graphics that slow down game play like the star dock landings or tera colo grabs and such.
It will speed up your game play.

Vid

P.S. If you have any more questions and would like faster answers or more in depth answers .. reach me on Zooms Team Speak server.

Yeah, it was added to the game intentionally because of the new delay features. A "Bug" is something that wasn't done intentionally.

I'm aware. I'm just mocking the concept of disrupting gameplay as being a feature.

I really shouldn't open this can of worms, but it is very interesting that all modern RTS / RPG games have delays. Training delays, building delays, and of coarse movement delays. How long does it take to walk around StormWind City, or take a boat to Orgrimmar in WoW?

These types of delays can be minutes, hours, weeks, and even months. They are required if you are going to play an online game with other players in real time. It really amazes me that TradeWars players can't even tolerate delays that are usually less than a second.

In an unlimited turn game, seconds, even milliseconds and their fractions,
matter a great deal. Time is money, and doing things faster than the
other guy, even by a small amount, might be the difference.

I'm sure there are more reasons for disliking delays. I just like being
able to send a huge block of text and having the game execute with
the blinding efficiency of a machine...

"blinding" is a good word, because you can't even see what your scripts are doing, and you better hope your defensive script is faster than the other guy's attack script (and vice versa)!

You aren't PLAYING TradeWars! Your scripts are! In almost any other game it would be called cheating.

Wow, I didn't think this kind of blind hatred for scripting even existed anymore.

First of all, you absolutely know what your script is doing - you're the one who told it to do it. And if you want to see every individual keystroke, look at the backscroll - that's how you debug a script.

I really fail to see the distinction between typing in a trade by hand, warping to an adjacent sector, typing in a second trade by hand, and warping back, or just running a script that does that on repeat.

Either way, you're the one deciding what you want done, and telling the machine to do it. And yes, you're very much *playing* Trade Wars, because you're still deciding what you want the scripts to do, when, and why, what tactics you're going to employ, etc etc.

An unattended bot and $3 will buy you a cup of coffee and that's about it. As long as the workhorse scripts (wsst, worldtrade, colonizing, combat, etc) are publicly available, as virtually all of them are), the playing field is even. What matters is the skill of the person playing.

I really have no idea. I barely have time to bang games on-time, never mind track IP address' …which reminds me, I'm thinking of packing up the Twgs. thinking its time to move on. For real this time. Lol. Think this would be the third time… but this is way off topic. Where the heck is the moderator anyway?
