May I ask that when you get ready to post next Bug fix version , that you just fix
the mail bug , maybe the extern and player timer thing ..
and maybe alien planet farming bug.

(wish list .. podless ship thingy)

That you post that one first .. so I can upgrade to fixed version before you post a jumpgate and game strategy changes ... that way I may be one of the last bug free original type servers ?

I almost never see planet buyout problem and don't care much for a change on the way its handled or the way limpits are handled , unless it were to give same messages, but not pick-up extras till they are cleaned.

just my 2¢

TIA

I'm definitely releasing a bug fix release first, then I'll take a look at alien behaviors, and THEN I'll take a look at functionality changes, including a new game mode to promote manual play.

Just a thought, as it would make data mining a lot easier... in the planet lists, would it be possible to include a column with the planet number?

Ok, V'g, the tricky part there is doing it in a way that doesn't mess up scripts or especially helpers. I think adding a new column could cause some problems, especially if anything keys on the header text. I suppose we could test it and see, but I hate opening that can of worms.

What if I just add to the start of the planet name the planet number. That way the only text that changes is the planet name and it's still in the same format as it was. So if your planet is "My Planet", it would show up as "#18 My Planet". Would that help? Would it break any scripts/helpers?

I think this would be needed for the personal planet list and the corporate planet list. Anything else?

It might break a few scripts, but it'd be a welcome change. It would be nice having the
exact planet number available.

The planet list itself needs changed from its current display by first created planet to last (think that is the way it does it). This makes the list somewhat useful, but not as useful as it could be. An example of a sorted by sector display is in: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=25339

Add in your planet number to the name and you would have a better display IMO.

Ok, I like the idea of sorting on sector rather than creation order, since creation order is pretty meaningless.

I frequently (and repeatably) see an error where the TWGS throws an exception when it is minimized to the tray, and you try to restore it from the tray icon. This happens on Server 2003, Vista, Win7, and I think even on WinXP. The first day or so minimized to the tray is usually fine, but after it has been minimized for more than a day, you can bank on it failing. TWGS continues to run, but you have have no GUI, and have to close it via Task Manager.

Sounds good to me... thanks JP

I ran into this problem on a hosted server. It was the display driver that was causing the problem.
Updated the driver, problem went away.

Is that when running as a service? Or just anytime you minimize to tray? I seldom run as a service, but minimize to tray all the time and have never experienced this bug.

We noticed the same thing and did what Singularity stated; fixed for us.

I did notice that TWGS does not like it when I have my display set to Dual Monitor (extend my desktop onto Monitor 2). It launches fine, minimize the TWGS to the task tray, go to restore and I get the same error EP noted. I've since disabled the dual monitor feature, and it's not a major issue for us. Just wanted to point that out.
