 How's this idea for a game on the Beta?

Unread post How's this idea for a game on the Beta?
Sort of a contest of sorts to see who can crash the Beta server next.

Everyone log on a team of dupes and bot all your dupes running WSST, or WSSM or whatever massive cashing script you have.

The more wear and tear we can put on this, the faster we get a stable wide release.

What do ya say? Who's up for it?

I think it's a great idea, but this crash doesn't have anything to do with game activities. Just a small thing I missed on the last update. TW2002.EXE processes were being orphaned so probably thousands of them built up on the process list over time, overloading the system. Should be fixed now, but I can't upload until the server is rebooted.

Once we get back up, let's continue with the heavy cashing and make sure it's handling that load, but then I think there should be a focus on interaction. We've been doing a lot of the various cashing operations without seeing errors (this overload notwithstanding), so that seems pretty clean. Maybe start attacking aliens and player vs player combat, base attacks, etc. And also anything you can do to hang up a node on the server (dropping at odd times, rapid logins, etc).

I have seen this same thing twice ( in 2 years) and I know Ice 9 has had it happen at least once but it is not like it happens all the time. So it maybe something that has been around just not common.

OK, heavy cashing to have resources to wack each other and our dupes too! :lol:

When the server is back up, I've got to check the edits on the Super H in the High Edits game. I had intended it to bang will a L6 citadel, but it hasn't. It does have all the product and production edits I wanted, but no citadel.

Unless some thing changed you change make it so they are 0 day upgrades on the Citadels, but you still need to verify product and do the upgrade. It will just allow you to up it all the way without waiting on Extern.

Thank you. When the server comes back up, I'll disable that game, edit the citadel upgrades and rebang it.
