Re: Ranging 30k sector universe
Strange that Helix has admin rights and could not do a cim sector output from said admin account .. this is non intrusive and would have gotten the warp info in its whole without much more then a 5 minute loss in your day.
And would not have hit one fighter to provoke the other players. And since dupes were allowed , why didn't he just start a new one and join his corp ?
Why was the need for rebang and locking games necessary ?
Oh ya , cause he forgot he could have gotten full map using an observer account huh ?
just my 2¢

Re: Ranging 30k sector universe
Sorry Vid, but this thread is reverting to smack talk so you are probably going to have to play this game there. Also. I've been in game B where Cruncher has access to tedit and I've killed and torped her numerous times and she hasn't even complained let alone use tedit. Come kill me in game B if you want. heh You should have known not to embarass Helix in a game where he has tedit access.

Re: Ranging 30k sector universe
Even if the data could be gained from TEDIT or an observer account, there's value in doing it "the old fashioned way" in game, because we need to test the game under normal wear and tear.

I don't see how doing a cim in game test the server or server code.

Re: Ranging 30k sector universe
Well come into game B and invade me in sector 9075. That's IF Kraaken has what it takes. Six man corps btw and I'm not protecting the grid.

Was anyone doing anything in particular today on the Beta Server about 5 - 5:15 pm EST? When I got home today I starteing colonizing, got kicked to the menu before I was finished then when I started the colo script back up it started as slow as a snail, then finished before I could finish the e-mail to JP to tell him the Beta Server was about frozen. Seems to be running fine now, I'm on the 3rd pass of a CIM in game B. I'll fire-up a new dupe and start a CIM on the 30k universe.

I'm not testing the server or server code right now, I'm testing the game, and preferably under normal game conditions. I know edits and accelerated growth help testing, but they're also not typical play. I just want to make sure the game is stable under typical use.

More people play edits than purely stock games.

I'm not saying "customizations", I'm saying edits, as in, giving assets rather than earning them through play.

T-Edit is the act of a sysOp messing with an active game by using that editor. We have a lot of different edits available that have customization of planets and ships. We have a few sysOps that practice the use of T-Edit to give their friend, or themselves, and advantage in the game. T-Editing servers usually die because no one can get a fair game.

Re: Ranging 30k sector universe
I actually say "Mods" Yeah, I know live editing is not common practice, and that's why I'm suggesting that we limit that in testing. Although eventually even editing should be tested, it's not a high priority, and it circumvents the real actions that would normally take place when gaining those assets.
