The "invincible ferrengal" actually only applies to internal Ferrengi. I should clarify that in the setting since that's ambiguous.

Gold alien homeworlds can never be destroyed by CBY (at least that's the intended behavior).

There is no test of invincibility for collisions. Gold alien homeworlds are not counted toward planets to determine if a collision occurs, and they are excluded from the list of planets that can be destroyed if a collision occurs. So if Gold alien planets are being destroyed in collisions, that's a bug. And if it is a bug, the question is, should it become standard behavior or should it be fixed?

Sounds like it needs to remain standard behavior. I do however like the suggestion that it cannot be destroyed by collision while Alien owned. Is that possible?

That's actually intended behavior. The code clearly tests to see if a planet is an alien homeworld before it includes it not only in counting the number of planets in the sector, but selecting a pair of planets to collide as well. I'm not sure why that's not working.

Right, but what he's saying is that it wasn't owned by the
aliens at the time. It had been captured. Does ownership
affect the collision calculation stuff?

This was an external alien (gold aliens) home world that
had been capped and was sitting in a corp's sector.

Yeah I understand that allowing idiots to overload the alien planets is something to be prevented but it throws the whole Corp size to Planet number ration out the window and causes stalemates which is a worse unintended result.

Consider removing that section. The no CBY thing is cool tho. Adds complication which is good.

Looking at it a bit differently - the alien planets not causing an overload actually gives you a reason to spend resources in capping one. It gives an additional value. Quick build planets - no need to cap, but an extra cannon or three in sector w/o overloading might make it worthwhile.

In Subzero and similar edits the alien planet capture cost is hardly a load of figs for a Redrum.
If the Default Planet load was a million figs and a million ore then I would agree with you. Otherwise first one in game after bang is going to have a unbeatable advantage. Which is the reason most Subzero bangs have no players in them after the first few hours. Why bother? Mostly I see these games entered by one or two players who lock the game down on first day and call it a "win" to themselves for some ego stroking exercise. It then sits idle with the "winner" haunting it with a kill script...until the sysop bangs the game...then repeat behavior.

It would really benefit everyone if we could have these bugs fixed in order to smotth the game out and make them playable. Hopefully John fixing the unlim foton bug as we speak which is more of an issue than alien planets.
