In future versions of TWGS, it might be interesting to allow Bigbang to create universes outside of the default physical structure. For instance, instead of having x one-way warps, bubble size y, etc., it could be interesting to let the universe be two enormous bubbles connected by one or two warps. If the universe were 30,000 sectors for example, it'd be sort of like having two 15,000 sector universes connected by one warp. These could be walled off by aliens just for kicks... players could start away from stardock maybe, or away from the other class zero ports.

It could be interesting to set the %'s of sectors that have one, two, three, four, five, or six warps. You could remove some entirely and up the percentage of others. Of course the total would have to equal 100%.

Setting bigbang to ENcourage, or DIScourage the generation of port pairs by relative percentages or factors or whatever might be a useful sysop tool.

Maybe a sysop tool to disallow dead-ends and/or bubbles by plugging backdoors into all of them, or a higher percentage than usual, could add quite an interesting element to a game...

Just daydreaming out loud... :)

Some interesting ideas.

It would be nice if others could plug in their own method for generating the game map. Then anyone could experiment with new ways to define the universe.

I wish I had the source to the map generator I wrote years ago. It used mathematical algorithms to generate various "skeletons" such as spiral, elliptical, ring, etc… and then it would build random sectors attached to this skeleton. The spiral galaxy in my old webring control was actually created by my random map generator.

I actually have a script that does this. I need to bang three games, two source games (x and y), and one destination game (z). It checks that size(x) + size (y) = size (z). It then reads in the warps for universes x and y (and creates an offset for the y warps so they do not overlap with the x warps), and then remaps the z warps accordingly. It punches a hole between sector 10 of the smaller bubble, and a sector in the larger bubble. It takes a few hours to run, and it is the next script in my queue to improve (since I wrote it several years ago and it is very clunky). Once I do, I would be happy to post.
