That brings up a good point and THAT has been the conflict ...

In the "I" screen in game should say Ships Destroyed : XX

and under tournament mode instead of Death Limit
maybe say Ships Destroyed : XX

That way when the limit is set and reached , the player is treated
as if his pod had blown up.

I have been working on a script to do this but the problem is
for the sake of server lag the script can not just cycle in the background
waiting.
So I have been thinking to do check at midnight , but what if the player
has gotten into a IDC with 100k figs or been parked at dock as the cloaked
bank .. then script came along and deleted them because of the limit.
Or worse yet , just changed their password to something random so they could not come back into game.
The character would still actually still be in play (usable).

This is why the best option is to treat users ship # (max blown ups - 1) as a podless. That way when they destroy ship they are out of play .. gone.
And the count works and a game can end or a ending date reached ..

The setting ending day is also a feature that would be nice in future tourney mode.

Vid Kid
ship and be done with it.

Since it is "Ships Destroyed", I think there should be an option that Pods don't count.

So are you saying a pod is not a ship , or to be pod'd is not a destroyed ship ?

I thought I had covered as much of the confusion as I could with better words to reflect the action of the counter in tourney mode.

It is all semantics, I know, but you can be podded without your ship being destroyed. So it is somewhat confusing, and understandably.

I think it just needs to be clearly defined what is being counted, depending on the setting you choose. "Death count" is actually a pretty specific thing that doesn't include being podded. Podding isn't dying. And as long as you can get back into a ship with a pod, you can continue to get podded without ever dying, subject to the setting that limits the number of pods per day. And that's where all of this gets muddled.

I think the more clear definition would be "ships lost". If you eject in your pod, you lost a ship. If you blow up in the ship, you lost a ship. If you blow up in your pod, you lost a ship. So maybe call it "Ship loss count" or whatever.

Standard practice is to photon the player, surround them with figs, and then blow them up. IMO this shouldn't count as two kills.

Seems were talking around all the same stuff:

1) Times Blown Up
2) Times Ship Destroyed

So I guess if those 2 different option's were available would that meet the masses on expectations of the way a tournament/game could be configured?

Yes, I think "ships lost" is what we think of when we want to play death limit games. Getting podded counts as loosing a ship, getting killed in a pod, or podless ship counts as loosing a ship.

If it's the last death, and he's #SD# out then no big deal, that works.

But, if his last death is simply being podded, we need the death limit mode game to simply #SD# that last pod instantly, then they are done.

Or... any ship a player on their next to last death transports into, becomes a podless ship for that player?

NO Pods for you! :)

I think that's a good solution. It only effects that final death.

Maybe I could also put in a line telling you with each ship loss that you've lost X ships, you have Y remaining before it's "game over".

Ok, I fixed this. It was an easy one-line fix to disable podding when max times blown up is reached. I'll add a toggle tomorrow.

In my tests, with max times blown up set to 2, player A attacked player B, sending him into a pod, then Player B went to SD and bought another ship (with a pod), then player A attacked player B again, but this time, instead of being podded, the player was #SD#. On trying to reenter the game, the player received the message saying he was out of the tournament.

I didn't yet put in any kind of message saying "you've been blown up X times. You can only be blown up Y more times." I'd like to do that. It won't impact scripts adding a line of text like that, I hope.

So only after loosing 2 (ships) the player was out of the game. That doesn't seem accurate. When in normal play you can take two pods from two different ships then if you get hit a 3rd time then your SD. Trust me I need those two pods before the i die LOL.
