This is not an area to debate the pros and cons of proposed features. It is an area for people to suggest new features for either TW or TWGS. I will either add the proposed feature to my planned features list, or explain my reasons for passing on the feature at this time. Features added to the list can be voted on so I can gauge people's interest.

I posted a question in another thread but I think it probably fits better in here.
http://www.classictw.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=33040&p=235562#p235562
I am curious why this is not available information to the players without having to buy one of every ship and test. Is there anyone that really cares about the Beacon Max: ? This could be replaced with something useful like GB: Y/N, and still allow for it to be a nice uniform listing and not mess with scripts using the ships stats section. Thoughts?

Basic Hold Cost: 10,000 Initial Holds: 20 Maximum Shields: 400
Main Drive Cost: 1,000 Max Fighters: 2,500 Offensive Odds: 1.0:1
Computer Cost: 20,300 Turns Per Warp: 3 Defensive Odds: 1.0:1
Ship Hull Cost: 10,000 Mine Max: 50 Beacon Max: 50
Ship Base Cost: 41,300 Genesis Max: 5 Long Range Scan: Yes
Max Figs Per Attack: 750 TransWarp Drive: No Planet Scanner: Yes
Maximum Holds: 75 Transport Range: 5 Photon Missiles: No

While we're on the subject, whether or not a ship has an escape pod strikes me as information an intergalactic space trader would probably need when buying a spaceship. :D

I'm aware that there are well done edits that incorporate this like Vid's, but it really seems like it should be there by default... just sayin'.

This is from a v2.xx server that had Vid's MakeAnsi run on it.
You get to it Computer > C - View Ships Catalog, then pick a ship.

Maybe if John could dupilcate more of the info that ProAnsi does natively without having to have additional scripts?

T-Edit scripts should be band-aid until a feature or change can be added. IMO
I like ansi files cause you can add more info for custom games.

Just a thought.

I'll repeat my post from that other thread here. Basically, rather than change the existing stats output, I expected gameops to provide special setting details in the description of the ship in its ANSI or text file. But I really like what Vid has done with his extended info output and am considering adding that.

Thanks John, just seems a couple items that might be important without buying all the ships and testing :)
Just my opinion but I always thought a pod was a little more important that if it carries beacons & how many.

Again Helix I'm aware of Vid's edits. (I play them.)

I think the pod y/n should be displayed by default in TW2002. Just my 2c. I'll shut up now.

If I add extended ship stats, it'll be default for Gold edits. But I don't want to change existing output if it can possibly be avoided.

Are you looking at just adding a row? Or like the ProAnsi script placing a section at the top? I for one would not want a rewrite in this section as moving items around impacts several scripts. Adding a section to the existing would not impact anything but allow us to grab more info from that screen.

Let me be sure I understand what would be the least disruptive. Can I add a block of additional info fields either before or after the standard info fields?

Most scripts seem to trigger off the words at the begining ie:
Basic Hold Cost:
Main Drive Cost:

So adding something before like ProAnsi does or at the end should.... keyword "Should" have no effect on gathering ship stats. Since most scripts are currently having no issue when running in a game where ProAnsi has been run already. I would like somebody else like Vid to weigh in since he did a lot of the reworking on that but from the scripts I have modded it will not effect them.

Add it wherever the standard ANSI descriptions appear now, and it shouldn't affect anything. If it does, the scripts are already broken.

Don't look at me. :)

Above or below the ship stats should be fine, I would think. The existing scripts use the main block and scripts can be edited to look for the new info.
