Forum rules


1. Each thread must begin with the Tournament Name, date expected to open, host server information, and rules if this information is available.
2. After the tournament officially opens, we will then open the thread to general discussion of the tournament.
3. There will be one thread here per tournament.
4. Members not in the game are allowed to comment on the game, however if this results in arguments that get personal the member NOT playing will be banned from the thread. This can be a temporary or permanent ban.
5. Posts viewed by the admin/moderators of this site as being out of line with the intent of this thread, can be moved or deleted at the moderators discretion.
6. Continued violations of the rules of this thread can result in the temporary or in extreme cases a permanent ban from this thread.

I already announce I was doing such, but if vid will allow me to retract that, I'll do so. I only do it because of players habbit of blockaiding dock.

Yes because it is a tournament not an everyday game. No port hardening! Or did I miss that setting too?

I don't harden ports typicaly, and this game they will not be.

Sorry I have been busy this last few weeks , and now I have time to discuss
this with my fellow corpies ... we have decided to withdraw from the tourney.

I was hoping we would be able to put a team together or join one.
But since we are down to the wire .. I'll let it move on without us.

I love this edit and know it will be enjoyable in the new twgs v2.17
The new death/loss limit and bugs removed will make the server of the future ;)

Kind of lopsided here, and there’s still time for additional teams or players to sign up.
All the names above are committed to playing, regardless of additional players showing or not, so this game is officially a go for Friday at 8pm EST.

I’ll not run the setup scripts I was going to. This game will be a bang and go. I’ll get some settings posted here real soon.

Game P: Fire 2012 has been rebanged and setting adjustments made.
Game is open for your viewing and testing pleasure.
Version 2.17 software is installed

    Terra, 500K colies to start, max up to 1M, with a regen of 25K a day.
    Inactive players deleted after 7 days.
    10 Deaths. Pods do not count as a death.
    2 Days to enter, then game is locked.

Please read the rules posted at the begining of the thread and abide by them.

I'm trying to be sure I have this setting correct

The lock-out mode defines the criteria for elimating players from the tournament. Options are "Pods & Deaths" and "Deaths Only". With "Deaths Only", the game tracks the number of times a player is killed, either in battle or by other means (murdered on StarDock, CBY, etc). With "Pods & Deaths" the game tracks not only player deaths, but also the number of times a player abandons ship in an escape pod.

1) Pods and Deaths
2) Deaths Only <-- Selected
3) None


So if I'm reading this correctly, abandoning your ship is not a death, it will require a pod exploding, or being murdered to up your death count.
I'd love to hear some feedback if anybody has tested this mode.

This is what has always been discussed.

Surrendering a ship does not count as a time blown up..... interesting since it always has in the past.

The Correct setting should be Pods & Death so it is whichever comes first. 10 Pods or 10 #SD#

Seems kind of squirelly and there should be a seperate setting allow for the following menu:

<R> Tournament Mode : On <S> # Days to allow entry : 30
<U> Lock-out Mode : Pods & Deaths <T> Max Pod and/or Death Count: 10

When you hit <T> should that be a submenu?

<1> Deaths : 10
<2> Pods : 5

<R> Tournament Mode : On <S> # Days to allow entry : 30
<U> Lock-out Mode : Pods & Deaths <T> Max Pod and/or Death Count: 5 / 10

The way I'm reading this is Deaths only do not count being podded against your death limit. Vid asked for a "hybrid" type setting but that's not what we got.

Option 1 > Pod & Death = each are counted equally toward the death limit
Option 2 > Death Only = only #SD# are counted toward the death limit.

Either are fine settings for a death limit game. Option 1 is default, and I beleive the best option for a more challening game. If you screw-up, or your script malfunctions and you get podded, that's gonna hurt!

If you want to use option 2, then please lower the death limit to 5 or less.

Both options can have some fun challenges, with option 2 more forgiving for those times when we goof up and somehow self-pod. But harder to get the opponent out if you must force them to #SD# to get them out.
