How unfortunate for you.

So is this the last time we let Cruncher pick an edit? As she knows very well we would not be up for a TL.

I spent a lot of time considering what edit to host.

#1 Is the Edit publically available? After Helix took his server down, you really have to go looking. Call To Battle is publicly available.
http://wiki.classictw.com/index.php?tit ... _to_Battle

Since the game IS publicly available, and I'm presuming in v1 format, then anyone with any version could have downloaded it to take a closer look.

#2 This game was designed as a TL game. I was not going to go tinkering with any of the "balance" of this game, but use it as the author intended. With exception to the criteria set-forth for these challenge games.

#3 If asked, I would have gladly uploaded the file I started with, before I made the changes for the challenge tournament.

Both teams were counting on bot players, neither one knew I was planning on a TL game until I opened the practice game and uploaded the edit.

Both teams had more than 24 hours to examine the practice game before the tournament opened.

You've lost 2 hours worth of turns, not a big deal for a team like Flying Aces.

I will keep this game open for 3 days should you have a change of heart and decide to play.

From what I understand about your corp and TL games, is that you are even more deadly with your activity monitoring scripts.

Again the edit is Fine The TL setting is not.

What does that have to do with anything? We aren't interested in looking for the edit.

Again what does that have to do with anything? I believe all zip wanted to know was the planet specs that you can post easier and faster then anyone looking for the edit on V1. Simple Question got a ridiculous answer you in your own words "I'm presuming" didn't even know if the answer your trying to give would be there. He wanted the planet specs YOU had.

TL is a server setting not a edit setting... did you write the edit?
Cruncher wrote:

You were asked for planet specs you didn't give.. or turn on a server side script you choose not to run.. lacking help far as we are concerned.
Cruncher wrote:

Not going to play a TL game..
Cruncher wrote:

We took our names off the list prior to the game open. The other team should have also.
Cruncher wrote:

We are no longer signed up to play.. dunno why you don't get that. We are not going to get into a TL game I know you already knew that. So I guess the draft teams are going to have to divvy up and play each other.
Cruncher wrote:

Na, we won't be signing up, but hopefully that will give others a chance to play.

At least we relearned not to play the games you put together saving everyone time. Thanxs for offing to host.

Again... The edit we were willing to deal with.. the TL we are not.

Why are you acting like you do not understand we are NOT interested in playing a TL game? Yes we have the scripts for it... so what. Still not interested. Get over it, Someone made a bad call on server/game settings and knew better.

And maybe I'm trying to flush out the players from the bots. I see I got my answer.

I appreciate others opinions but only mob and myself will determine if someone is posting smack. And those 2 messages were deleted. Please debate v1 and v2 elsewhere as it has nothing to do with this tournament.
Good try though Cruncher.

You do know the bots work around TL? You had 4 out of 6 from Aces posting here about your issue. So what you mean by that statement is beyond me. Yet another good reason not to leave things in your hands in the future. Again Thank you for the offer to run a competitive tournament.

I would also think about this: If you were going to try and create a successful high end restaurant would you sell fast food and talk smack to the customers too?

Too funny!

My only "issue" is that I don't run server side scripts that allow players to see all of the ship and planet settings. If you know this edit, or can easily download it to look at it, you'll know that it's nearly stock. That's what your corpies were asking for.

This isn't fast food, this isn't a super fast edit like some have been in the past. Another reason why I choose the TL setting is because this is the last month of summer for some folks, and we don't need to spend it indoors playing a game 24/7.

You do however need a real player at the keys at least once each day to set up his login script. (As far as I know... I don't know how sophisticated your login scripts are.)

But, when someone is AFK for most of the game, but their bot is available, that's too close to duping for my tastes. If you want to play, and have the time to do so, then please do.

Filling up a roster with AFK bots is sad... we may as well just setup Dupe War games. Then each player gets to dupe a full corp.

yup and you could have just given him the info he asked for in a post instead of the "go figure it out your self" answer. or turned on a scripted.

Yup, that is what is called an analogy.Far as free time in the last month of summer goes, it looks like those players your talking about are going to have a lot of free time now huh... good job and way to look out for them without talking to them I'm sure they/we are all happy and thankful for it.

Yup on some of them you do.

Yes we know... however It's not up to your taste. The was the point to the Analogy. It was to have a good game with players playing. Hope you are happy with your results as we have other restaurants to eat at.
Cruncher wrote:

Yup, there have been games like that set up too and we have 5 out of 6 that are here regularly and the 6th about 50% of the time due to his work week. If you need a dupe war game that's up to you and another game we won't play.

Wow look at you right on all points and yet every player that was looking forward to an august challenge game didn't get the results they had thought they would. Wonder where you went wrong?

I could have done it, but it really is your CEOs responsibility to provide you with the information you need to formulate a game plan. Cruncher's responsibility ended when she posted the TWA, as instructed by the challenge rules.
