I just now saw this post about the tricon jackpots.....That's funny, that's my only claim to fame so far... 2019 Tricon Ice Champion
Points System

25 points for the corp with the largest grid.
25 points for the corp with the most fighters.
25 points for the corp with the most colonists.
15 bonus points for each shielded planet that was created by another corporation, and owned by your corporation at the end of the game. Logs must show a planet capture.

In the invent of a tie on points the tied corp with the most Tri-Con Jackpots wins(Just Kidding BH)

In the invent of a tie on points the tied corp with the most kills wins.
I miss daily updates in tournament games. Always liked the way Micro used to post those :)

After speaking with Corp 2's CEO and seeing the results in game, this one is officially over.

First, I want to thank Corp 2 for a good game. We enjoyed it and you guys always play strong. Our "shock and awe" strategy was legitimately out of respect for you - we did not want this to be a long game of grid and foton wars, our plan from the start was to end it quickly because we thought that gave us the best chance.

Now, I want to congratulate The Mystery Men. In Alpabetical Order:

DoomeD - The Sphinx
LoneStar - The Spleen
Rider - Mr. Furious
Shadow - Casanova Frankenstein
Tracker - Shoveller
Zep - Captain Amazing
Zip - Blue Raja

This was truly a team win - there were no followers here, everyone contributed in a very significant way and executed our strategy perfectly.

Without a doubt, Rider was our team MVP. I don't think anyone will disagree with me on this. Rider spent countless hours (many while I was away with work and family) in the two weeks prior to the game, creating a frankly ridiculous Moo script that enabled us to generate $75 million in cash in the first 3 hours of the game. In a 2000 turn game. Rider was my co-CEO and had a hand in every strategy and plan we executed. He made me look good :)

Tracker also provided significant contributions to the moo script, as did Lonestar (along with other scripting work we needed). I jumped in as well at times, though less than the rest. Having four good scripters was a huge benefit and luxury for us.

Speaking of Lonestar, he struck the final blow tonight, taking out two of the three remaining Corp 2 players and effectively ending the game. Lone was our hunter - he found the "base" of the other team not once but twice, and then went and took them out.

We made $75m cash in 3 hours before the first night's extern, thanks to everyone's work, especially Doomed, Zip and Zep who led the rush out to moo and got us going, and then switched into sdt mode for hour 2. This funded my blowing of dock with us already set up to sdt for day 2, and their continued work funded my capture of their thol and planet the next day.

The Mystery Men suffered no deaths, one pod, and were never fotoned in the just over 48 hours this game lasted.

There were no players on this team who did not execute everything well and that is rare. We had 100% participation in the practices, strategy sessions, and everything leading up to the game for weeks. We were ready, and it showed. I am glad to have teammates like these, and I look forward to the next one!

Well done to Shadow/Rider et. al.

You guys prep'd really well and it showed.

We didn't really get organised pre-game and were simple to busy. That showed on the day.

If we had prep'd we would have made it more of a competition. As is, you deserved the win, often it's won before the first turn is spent just like that. Via practicing and practicing.

Well done!

And of course the last one to thank and always the least is appreciated is the Sysop.

Thanks SK!

It's still the best tournament edit out there. I've never won it, think I've won most games at least once.. but never an ICE :(

This time next year I plan on giving up one of my big commitments so I might actually have the time!!

End of an Era....

Thanks all for playing. Congrats to corp one. thanks to everyone who played.

I am announcing now that this was the last Ice Tournament(at least hosted by me). There are many reasons i decided to stop hosting. some are personal some and issues with the V2 software.

In the end its just too much work for for me to keep up with anymore. and its not as fun as it used to be

The V2 TWGS will remain open as long as there are players.

thanks everyone

Yes, I'll second that, thanks SK. It's hard to host and deal with some of the more difficult players (yes, I am referring to myself).

Sorry to hear that you won't host anymore. I sincerely hope that Micro or someone else will pick up hosting. As Hammer notes, this is probably the best long-running tournament edit out there. I look forward to defending our defense of our 2017 title, and playing what I am sure will be a much more difficult game against Hammer next year :)

Thanks Corp 1 I read your break down Shadow and you did very well describing the game in detail what happened. Anyways I don't know anyone, just heard of you or been killed by you in some games so it was nice to play at the level and speed of the elites in an elite game. I'd like to still play on occasion with the team I was with if any of you are planning on or playing any games, let me know.

Corp 1 you all were awesome and hope to do it again sometime. Corp 2 you all were really cool and I appreciate taking me on last minute, I had fun.

See you all later. -Tex and now i'll use "TriCron" =P

I know this is a late post, but I would consider it an honor to host the Ice tournament next year, and years to come.
