 How many colonists does a colonist unit represent?

1000 units? well thats what the planet says but perhaps not.

Something I dont get. Production sections of the planet, say fuel ore says it can hold up to 200k colonists. Since each colonist unit is 1k of colonist that would mean you reach that limit at 200 colonist units. But you dont. You reach that limit at about 20k colonist unit. Which doesnt make any sense at all and seems to be an rather random number. Why would colonists units represent 10 for the max population limit while they represent 1000 for colonists needed to build this or that citadel? And they represent 1 when figuring for how many are needed to produce each unit of equipment organics or fuel.

So how many colonists does each colonist unit actually represent. [?]The game seems to be confused about this with these contradictions.

Um.. i think i should have put this topic in Trade Wars 2002 forum. Would someone please move it?

As to your queston, for the most part, people refer to colos as they number they show. So 200k colos is when it 200k holds of colonists. In the upgrade menu, divide the number it shows by 1000. The TL and CY planet list values also need to be divided by 1000 to get the holds of colos amount. The production rates are listed as holds of colos. Also, if you're looking in tedit, the lists colos in holds of colos. I agree it's confusing, but I hope I cleared it up some.

TL lists corporate planets. CY lists personal planets.

I know of no place in the game where it shows 1 and it means 10 (well, other than port upgrading).

TL is what you press from the command prompt to list corp planets, CY is what you press to list personal planets.

If a planets population limit in say organics is say 200,000 then the actual colonist population limit is reached with 20k colonist units.
Simple math shows you that that means 1 colonist unit is equal to ten colonists.

With those numbers you gave, the 20k is the limit to the # of colos you can have producing ore. the 200k is the limit to the amount of ore it can have.
Such as a stock volcanic gives most efficient colo production at 50k colos, can hold 100k total in the ore slot, but on the planet, you can have a maximum of 1000k ore.

Ah, that makes sense if that's what he was talking about. I was really confused where he was getting his numbers. Thanks for helping out :)

ok, but i still don't see how that makes 1 colonist represent 10 colonists?
that just means the max on the planet is 10times the max amount of colos it should hold......

The planet maximum doesn't actually say what it is a maximum of. I can see now how someone might confuse it with colonists as opposed to product like it really is. I imagine he was getting his numbers off of the stock L, can put 20k colos in ore, and it'll hold 200k ore. Something else worth mentioning, the optimum amount of colonists is half of maximum.
