I would like to be able to filter messages.
You can see below that i have alot of messages. Most of those are fighter reports. I think that if i press C then M to read my messages, i should get 1 more prompt. It should give me a choice of ALL/FIG/USER messages. Otherwise, any messages i am sent are lost since there is no way i can ready 5000+ messages.

Darn, never seen anyone with that many messages, I didnt play a game for close to a month and didnt even have 1000 messages in it, and I had a ton of stuff in that game.

Turn on enuogh aliens that you have ftr spam constantly and it happens, believe me, I too suffer from this problem :)

I run my autoexplorer scripts that drop figs everywhere.
Lets say i have 3 teammates and we explore 60% of the universe in the first day...
That means we have dropped 12,000 toll figs. Now imagine 100 aliens and 20 players paying/killing the figs...
You get too much mail to read.
The mail above was generated in 8 hours. Plus... i have only been on that board for 1 day <g>
earth.

Well, I can understand wholeheartedly where you're coming from.. But with no real way to filter them at the moment other than turning off messages and then I sitll suppose you get them at logon, is to set up a reaction in your script/client to automatically hit enter when the pause prompt comes up, and turn up your buffer a whole lot and pray it has a find function. Sorry I can't offer more help

I to have noticed this in some games I have played in. It seems to me that there should be a way to get through all the messages. Sometimes I have seen just as many messages as Earth did. It would be nice to see a future version where you don't have to read every message.

If you don't like to see all these messages when you log-on ..
you could get a new log-on script that will send * for every [pause] it encounters.
Those without scripts .. wait till you see pause .. and type A
this will abort the listing.
Then after entering the game , exit .. this will ussally clean up your mail box for awhile.

Just a quick conjesture from an operator, I turned offense on my aliens off (even ferrengi) and now I got 3 messaegs in the course of 16 hours as opposed to 400+ every 4-8 hours before. Maybe JP Could code it so that offense taken towards sector fighters and toll payments could be viewed in a seperate message panel/log (Personal Messages/Fighter Messages/Corporate Messages, etc)

Just some thoughts, I have no idea what the innards of the programming look like and how hard it'd be to do.

I just log the messages to a file, then process the log off-line. usually I load the log up into excel, and let it sort it. Most of the time I don't care when they hit my fig, just the fact that the DID hit it. If the timing is important, then I run a search in the log, or I merge the time with the fig hits and then sort. And I usually don't play in games that have aliens active. Aliens are too buggy right now.

i agree - this should def. be an addition/change made
ive had over 20k messages in 1 game after 2 days of bein idle
usually less, but wtv heh

i dont even want to scroll through to filter it manually - if there was an automated feature that did it for you that would ROCK

Is there a way to let it run through all of them quickly without pausing, instead of aborting it after the first pause?

Easiest way I have found to get by the messages at log in is to log off with CN9 set to all keys and use a log in script like with TWX Proxy. About 3 seconds after login your ready to play. If you want to make sure your safe then review your messages this works very well and you can still get your messages using CM.

Actually my theory on it is, for those that don't know, hold down the space bar if you just don't want to read the messages at all. Holding the space bar will stop it in mid-go. Always has always will..

the problem isnt 'not' reading tha messages

i dont wanna have to abort all my messages cause of spam lol - corp memos, limpets, wtv - all that **** i wanna see lol

For those users that want to see those messages and not go through any key pressing , I'de recoment DotU's log-on v1.0 ...
it does a great job , just another reason to get TWX proxy.

Or if these messages are driviing you crazy .. maybe don't drop thousands of fighters ... only you can prevent this spam [:)]
